How much do you pay for half full tank?
As I've said before, I'm no expert on these gas figures but my mom said my xA only takes about $12.00-somthing to fill up half the tank (when the meter goes half & you want it filled completely). I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal compared to our SUV which is $40-something for gas! How much do you guys pay to fill half your tank? It differ from state to state.

I don't know about half tank but I usually wait for the gas indicator to flash. This last time I paid $18.42 to fill the tank with 8.61 gal at $2.14/gal. (Kinda nerdy I know but I've been tracking my mpg with my palm pilot.)

I spent $19.50 on 9.2 gallons Monday @ $2.199/ gallon. I'm getting 37.5 to 39mpg on my commute. That tank came out to 37.8mpg. I run 65-70mph on the interstate. Just running around town and the hood I'm getting 32mpg.

Let's see...
- Unleaded regular 87 octane has varied from over $3 a gallon to just over $2 a gallon in the past few months.
- On a cool morning a tank reading half full might read closer to 3/4 full after a warm, sunny afternoon due to temperature-related changes in the gasoline's density.
- Gauges read differently depending on whether you've been braking, accelerating, or turning left or right.
Given the above, I'd say half a tank of gas costs me about $8. Or $25. Or $17. Sometimes it costs over $30, but that includes groceries and a touchless car wash when it's dusty. I'm not really sure, since other than keeping an eye out for the lowest current $/gal, I wait till I'm between the 1/4 and R marks, then pull into a station, swipe my plastic and go till it clicks off.
I'm more concerned with babying it on cold mornings, and comparing my right foot pressure with my mpg. More pressure = lower mpg, consistently!

I usually pay about 10 dollars for half a tank, and that is with 89 octane.
The most I have ever paid for gas in my car was 34.50. Was for a complete fill up when gas was $3.39 per gallon of 89 octane.
