My dealer just called with xa rs1 package $ & ship date

My dealer smokes crack (not to offend any dealers out there).
I've just been lied to so much by dealers. I've learned to have patience and take things as they come. When it gets here, it gets here. After it gets here, I can do my best to negotiate price.

I have an RS on order myself. I haven't heard this kind of news yet from my dealer. Kind of worries me though. I made a 500 dollar downpayment with the understanding that I was paying one price, and if they try to close to $1000 to it, I shall be very put out. When did you make your downpayment? Did you have the understanding as I did, that the package was going to run you about $1395?

yes, I thought it would be around $1400, however...

I also (and they did too) noticed the Scion web site took off the MSRP price and put on the message " package price coming soon", so they couldn't give me a price. I don't have to take the new price, but then I don't get the car. I ordered mine a couple weeks ago. Scion has a no haggle policy, so, I don't think anyone will have any luck (maybe I'm wrong?) changing the price set by each dealership. I still want it, I'm just not as excited as I thought I would've been. By the way, the larger dealerships get their cars first. Mine is a small one, so thats why I won't get mine till late September. Let me know what you end up paying. I'll be mad if I'm the only one who has to pay the $2200. If I find out other people get to pay the $1399, I'll be ____y, maybe I won't get it after all.

I'll let you know. I may try to give my dealer a call tomorrow. I did ask him when they took the MSRP off of the website, whether they would try to raise the price of my car beyond what it was when I signed papers and started the process, and he told me that two in-house memos about my deal still indicated the original $1399 package price. I would think (and this is only supposition on my part) that SINCE I signed the deal at $1399, and SINCE Scion proclaims that they are no haggle, that they'd be as locked into that price as I would be. I would expect to pay what we agreed in writing, no more and no less. Now I can understand if there was a small fee or something that crept into the final price. That happens from time to time I think. I'm not willing to let them jack up my "no haggle" price.
As for allocation, I've been told that my xA will arrive at the dealer the last week of August, and that I can expect to take her home (for it will most definitely be a her) after inspections during the first week of September. I placed my order on August 3rd. Actually gave interest due to leaked info before that. THey haven't called me to either move the delivery or hike the price yet. Like I said, I'll let you know the minute I hear something. Anyone else know anything?
Fingers tightly crossed,

Well, here's a little update. I got an e-mail from my dealership today concerning the arrival of my xA RS 1.0 today.
The gist of it all is this: Some xA RS models have already shown up stateside, but in small quantities and destined for larger dealerships first. The allocations for the region I live in are still about a week and two days from beginning to filter in. There was no indication at all that Scion would try to raise my agreed upon price on me. No indication either that there would be 17" custom wheels involved, which would be fine with me.
I might add that my dealership, Advantage Toyota-Scion of Barboursville, and more specifically my salesperson have been more than helpful and I don't feel at all like I've been left out of anything. I feel like I've been dealt straight down the middle so far, which keeps with the Scion philosophy. Here's to them.
Any news from your way Beckysue?

My dealership has been very upfront with me as well, but they called yesteryday and said that it was $2200 and that it would be coming with the enkei wheels etc. We decided that if I don't want the new wheels/tires that he would give my number to someone who was interested in upgrading when they buy a new xa and perhaps the two buyers (myself and other buyer) could work out a swap. For example, I give you these fancy wheels/tires, you give me yours and $800. This is apparently still a pretty good deal for the other guy?? I don't know what will come of it.
If anyone wants to take me up on this offer, I live in Madison Wisconsin!! I'm not too happy about the change in the package, however I guess thats what happens when you order early.
Thank you so much for the info you have shared. I REALLY appreciate it!

I recieved a letter on August 18th from Scion concerning the price increase. I'm not sure if it will be the same throughout the country, but in the Northeast they will all be @ a $2200 dollar premium.

I think that's what they're saying. 17" Enkei wheels and Yokohama tires are going to raise the package price to $2200. Although, from what we've pieced together, it looks like not every RS will have that package. Looks like some of them will have standard 15s and such. That is, of course, a bit of conjecture on my part. I don't know that for a fact.

The $2200 includes:
New Color Keyed Grill
Rear Spoiler
Power Tilt Slide Moonroof
VSC vehicle stability control
Red Interior Light
Red Stitching in seats
17" Enkei Alloy Rims
Yokohama Avid H4 tires
Package price: $2200
1550 being built, with every dealer getting at least one to start. No word yet as to auto/manual spread, or whether or not there will RS1 cars available with side air bags. We should have an idea within a week or so.
Yes, the package price DID increase, but the dealers have NO control over that. Can't be helped. I've seen the rims on the car, and they are worth it. Plus, I thought it was chessy that the RS1 xB came with wheel covers. Who's with me?
If anyone has any further questions, let me know.

The package with the 17s works for me. I don't know that I like agreeing to one price and being told I can't have the car at that price. I do agree that the wheels set off the package. I was even talking to my fiance who doesn't care too much about cars. She even saw the point that a special edition with plastic hubcaps doesn't quite work.
Anyway, thanks for posting. It's cool to get some info from a dealer.
[EDIT]
I thought of something else. Is there any way you can find those wheels and post pictures of them? I'm rather interested in seeing what they look like.

I understand your frustration with the pricing, but Scion just did that last week.
I would love to show you pictures, but I've been threatened with death, resurrection, and death again if I post them. They're in my showroom if you would like to come over and see.
And I have already asked WHEN I can post them so everyone can see them.
IMO, the car just needs springs and it is done. Looks good, though.

The Scion web site has been updated with the $2200 price with the 17's. The photos show the wheels.

Ooh Pritty!
Actually, they are nice looking wheels. They don't "blow me away" or anything, but respectably attractive IMO.
I am glad that the price increase involves snazzed up wheels and isn't just a price hike for no reason. That makes it better. Also, it's cool to be able to finance a set of nice wheels with the car instead of separately. Hard to get that kind of interest rate on a set of aftermarket wheels.
Well, I'm still looking forward to the car. I hope that the payment doesn't jack up too much, but I'm going to try really hard to go for it.
