Default No ponwer lock operation after parked?

I took my elderly mother shopping this weekend and she insisted on sittingin the car with engine off and windows cracked. I did so and when I got back from running inside a store I asked her to unlock the doors. She was unable to. I thought maybe she was pressing the wrong button, so I stuck my arm in the window and tried it myself. Neither direction I pressed on the power door buton did they unlock. I could however hear a noise in all 4 doors when the buttom was pressed.

Is this normal? I though I had power locks with or without the key in the car as many times thats how I lock my doors when I get out after removing my key from the ignition.

Thanks.

Take it to the dealer. You are suppose to have power locks at all times even without the key in the ignition. Sounds like some warranty work.

Yeah... that sounds like trouble...

Mine work without a key in the switch.

Mine does the same thing. I was told that was a safety feature in order to keep thieves from depressing the unlock button through a cracked window in order to get in the car. Anyone else hear this before?

Default Is the alarm on?

Did you set the alarm with her in the car?

Or did you lock it with the keyless entry first?

Mine works fine from inside.

Was she in the back seat?

Odd!!

"Scion Security." There's a section in the manual explaining it, but the long and short of it is, if the car is off for more than a minute or so, you have to unlock with the key or RKE.

I do not have rke, yet. I just used the key. I was going to go to the dealer last friday, but they were too busy.

Thanks, I think I do recall now reading somewhere about that being a security feature if not in the rke installation manual.
