Default noise complaint...

So I live in a community with various townhouses and apartment complexes, and today I was approached by the friendly neighborhood officer about my car. He said he received numerous complaints from parents that when I passed by the kids at the bus stop every morning (on my way to work) that my car was upsetting the children and that the parents thought I went by too "fast". I never exceeded any speed limits and I think the parents are just mad because I have loud exhaust (4-2-1 header, no muffler). I believe that the parents confuse "loud" and "fast". In the case of my car the two are not related. The officer then informed me that if I did not cease and desist that he would write me a ticket. I personally found the whole situation quite comical. Anyone have a similar experience?

I would drive by them in 1st gear for now on.

I have a stock setup and no problems. I use to use an electric wheelchair that was rather loud from the gearing. I got lots of similar compliants, however it was too slow to register on radar and most cops walked off after having a little talk with me.

F em! If the fuzz didn't see it first hand than I wouldn't worry about it. People like to wine n _____ about everything nowadays about every stupid thing, get a life people. If ur that worried about it than find a different way to go to work. Or put a muffler on it to quiet it down but put an exhaust cutout right before the cat, so when u stop at the corner u can open it up n really ____ em off.

The cop actually lives right next to the bus stop and he said that one day it looked like I was going "kinda fast." But he also informed me that he doesn't have to get me on radar to write me a ticket for "reckless driving." When my lease is up on my townhouse I am going to pull up to the bus stop, yank the e-brake and light it up in front of all of those soccer moms.

HAHA so does he have a reckless driving radar detector?

I like how the moms said you upset the kids. People always need something to complain at. Just keep driving the speed limit and screw putting a silencer in.

Nowadays, some thinks different especially those very conservative people. They might be thinking that you're out of control or maybe member of a gang because of your loud car. Sounds like a non-sense reply but it's true.

A speeding or wreckless driving tocket for a loud car is ridiculous, but can't you get a ticket for noise or illegal mods? I would guess it's illegal to have no muffler in most States.

I don't normally mind loud cars, but there's a guy across the street who gets up at like 7 every Saturday morning to mess with his mega loud motorcycle. It's a cool bike and all, but come on! That's mandatory hangover recovery hour...

I try not to be an a-hole with my car going in and out of the community but where I live (Southern MD) they don't really give tickets for mods on your car (except tint). My Tercel which had a muffler was quite a bit louder than my xA. In fact its pretty "necky" where I live. There isn't even emissions testing in my county. My car however would fail a Maryland state inspection for not having a muffler, but that doesn't matter if I'm not selling the car. The moms that complained just used my car as an excuse to complain about something and try and add some relevance to their otherwise meaningless lives.

I hear you about parents that really need to just chill out. There's definitely no shortage of those!
