Default Is this normal in cold weather?

I have a new 2006 XA for a few weeks now...but when I start my car up in freezing cold weather, the car's blue coolant temperature indicator pops up. It stays on until the car is fully warmed up. It says it is normal in the manual and the demo CD. According to the owners manual, you should take it to the dealer if the coolant indicator is red…Any of you guys experience this blue coolant temperature indicator in freezing weather?

That is totally normal. It's just your car's way of letting you know that the engine isn't up to optimal operating temperature. You can still drive with the light on there is no harm done by doing this.

Blue Light = Engine is cold and warming up

No Light = Engine is running at normal operating temps

Red Light = Seek prefessional assistance because this egg is becoming hard boiled.

If the light isn't off then your RPMs are nearly capped until the blue light does goes off.

I'm sorry to be the mean one... but if you read it in the owner's manual, then why are you asking it here? I think you answered your own question when you mentioned that. Otherwise, you're questioning the manual!

Again... I hate to be the mean one...

Translation: Immediately pull over and figure out what is causing the overheating, unless you like to spend thousands on repairs! Do not try to drive the car until it has cooled down!

And if you have an automatic transmission, the car will not shift into fourth gear until the blue light is off. Or so I've been told...my car has three pedals.

That's kinda what I was saying> i have an auto and there is an RPM restriction if it's not heated up-
would be the same thing as not allowing it to shift , just a different way to go about it

Yeah, it definitely won't shift into 4th gear. And the manual is correct, its suppose to be on.

Is why I'm glad I have remote start... press my buttons, and by the time I get out to her, she's all warmed up and ready to go!!

If memory serves you can technically only have remote start on an automatic. But on a manual is "not allowed" yet it can still be done so if you have an auto as long as the dealer will do it then it won't void anything but if someone else does it very well can void a warranty. Pretty much anything you do to a car that is not stock will void a warranty.

It has to be proven that the aftermarket item caused the problem. They don't just stamp your warranty with a "VOID" if they see changed parts. look into the Magnussen-Moss Act for more info.

can be installed on a manual but you need to leave your car in netrual parked all the time your using and have a clutch bypass switch installed. it cost more overall.

Not true actually...My xB light is always red when I first start up the car on a hot day outside...It's only on for a couple seconds and then goes off right away...I asked the dealership about this and was told it is completely normal when the vehicle is already hot...This has been going on now for the two years I've had my Lava and it's still driving just as good as the day I drove it home from the lot :D

The red light always comes on for a second wheather its hot or cold over hear. It's just doing a system check to let you know that it's working.

Mine was dealer installed.. so i've still got the warranty. I know, DEALER INSTALLED WHY"D YOU DO THAT?? Its called, ITS FINANCED! Its all included in the price of the car, so i'm not paying anything out of pocket NOW.. that was the only way I could do it. Even if it is cheaper somewhere else, besides, I'm lazy and didn't want to have to find someone to do it for me.
LoL
