If you want more power then do I/H/E and top it off with a nice turbo. After that, theirs tons of other little (and big) mods you can do to go even further. All that would be much more cost efficient IMO.

Don't mean to bump this, but couldn't you put a tC engine into the xA?

Well, perhaps it's too big for the xA's engine bay though.

The xa has plenty of power as is. Just keep the revs between 3-5k.

Default engine swap

Maybe the new xD motor, a 1.8 w/ 128hp, might fit. I cant imagine it to be to much bigger probubly not alot of modifing to do, comp. & mounts.

I'd consevbable /possibly see this happening. Or Even the 1.8L VVTL-i engine. Can anyone here conclusively say that they have done this engine swap, or know of someone who has ?

Why would you spend that kind of money though to swap the engines?

#1. if you could fine one at a good price (even a used Japanese engine w/just under 30K miles)

2. if after 200K+ miles, your engine takes a dump... and you have to extract the engine out of the engine bay .... its an opportune time to do something like this... besides the engine cost(and related componets- air intake, etc.), not so sure what else would have to be switched over- transmission ??

the question is not in what kind of engine you can put into xA the question is in how much money you want to spend?
I can drop a porsche engine in your car for a lil over $50K + engine and tranny. And by I can, i mean it I CAN. You can put any engine in any car if you know what you are doing and have enough money to do so. It might no longer look like the car you oringinally had if you stick v12 mercedes bi-turbo engine in it, but it will have that engine and it will drive. I guarantee my work for 1 year

just wait till the new evo X comes out.. it has the same setup (exhaust in the back) and very compact turbo setup. You'll be putting at least 300whp with no mods to engine.

Hate to say, best bang for the buck is a V8.

for about 5K,(includung the donor car) the Ford 351ci V8 in my '56 is pushing 370hp.

however, no plans to put a V8 in MY xA...

maybe a TC motor.
