The 05 and 06 foglights are the exact same...not sure of how big the holes are though.

read past threads...the '06 fog lights were improved for better visibility, so get the '06 fog lights!

In terms of size though, they are the exact same.

they may be the same size, but the 06 needs more parts to fill the hole...05 has a round hole...06 is rectangular. The kit comes with the pieces necessary for proper fitment. I too was told there was no problem, bought a set, and when it came time to put them in...couldn't do it. You have to buy the genuine Scion part, there is no aftermarket kit that has the parts for proper fitment. I got them on ebay for about 180 bucks. More than I wanted to spend, but well worth it after they went in...look great!

So am I understanding this correctly: The 06's have the same mounting holes/slots for the the actual lamp assembly as the 04-05's, but only the housing is different? If that's the case, there's a few sellers on eBay with the OEM's for 04-05 lamps. Theoretically, I could then Dremel a hole on the 06 bezel to accomodate the round lamp lens. This option would be a much better alternative to paying around $250 from the dealership (or an online dealership).

no...won't work. The 04-05 xA has a round hole for the foglights...the 06 is actually rectangular. The stock kit comes with a frame that will fill the hole. When you pop out the knockouts, the round fogs won't fit, and there is no place to attach them. The stock fogs attach to a plastic frame that clips into the bumper cover, and then there is another piece which snaps into the front to properly fill the hole. Trust me, I ordered the ebay fogs, and they are still sitting in my garage...they WON'T fit! It would take some major fabricating to make them work. The sellers on ebay don't know what they are talking about.

Ah - that's the detailed answer I was looking for. Thanks jgriff63 for the info! I'll just have to wait for the eBay sellers to get their hands on some '06 fogs and sell 'em for less.

You got it! I went through the exact same thing...evidently I am the only one who decided to install fogs on an xA after I bought it, until you, that is...it was frustrating as heck when I got the first set, and realized they wouldn't work...just keep an eye on ebay...I got the genuine Toyota part for about 180 bucks shipped. They are worth it, look great, and fill those holes that I hated so much.

I wanted to get foglights for my 06, but for some reason TRDSparks didn't list 06 foglights... only 05s. So I emailed them asking why. They said the 05 kit won't fit and that eventually they'll get the 06 kits in. Eventually they got the 06 kits in. So I bought a kit for the $240 or so, installed it myself, and it fits perfectly. The foglights themselves attach to the plastic frame that fills in the rectangular hole - so the round kit for the 05 model or any aftermarket kit designed to fit in the 05 hole will not work. If you wait long enough I'm sure some aftermarket kits will come out that properly fit the 06. Or you could buy the 06 OEM foglights from TRDSparks.com
