They can tell you exactly where that car is, you just have to push the salesman to find out. When I pushed, I found out the car had just been unloaded from the train and would be trucked to the dealership in two days.

We were talking to the manager, because our salesman wasnt there. He goes, "We can't help it if the Japanese stop the boat in the middle of the ocean." We were sorta like, "....."

Well, they may not be able to tell when it's on a ship. But once it hits California, they can get you the VIN, and from that point they can tell you exactly where it is, they just have to make some phone calls.

If the mgr is sayng stupid crap like that, start looking for someplace else to get your service done...... That is the most idiotic thing ever uttered!

But, it's great to have you in the family! I've had my xA over a year and haven't had a single hiccup from it. And I drive it a little hard...heheheh. And don't think all slushboxes are slow. I spanked a Mini Cooper S the other day.

I saw a total of 1 other xA in my town last week. The dealers get them in, they don't stay on the lot long and I never see one on the road. I guess people are buying them and storing them.

Same here. My xA has been solid as a rock. The more I drive it, the more I love it.

On a side note: KLoLo, why are you waiting for a single dealership to get one in? With "Pure Pricing", you're going to pay the exact same price no matter where you get it from. When my wife wanted her R.S. 2 xB we just searched deralerships inventories until we found one. We drove 2 hours away to get it, but she got the one she wanted...no waiting.

Unless he has dropped a deposit on it.

Are you wanting anything special? Side airbags (or, the exlodinng seat option)? Auto or stick?

Yeah but even that should be refundable. I'm sure they won't like it, but they can't keep a deposit. Especially if he's getting the run-around and it's taking longer than he was told it would. With these cars, there's just no real reason to wait on one if you find it elsewhere. The warranty and service will be honored at any Toyota dealership. It would kill me to be waiting and waiting on my car if I knew another dealership had what I was looking for.

I am with you there.... It looks like the dealer would go get it if it was close by...that is, if there is one close by, to keep a customer happy.

Or, do they not do that anymore?

If I'm not mistaken, the deposit is non-refundable.

Oldmanatee, can you please explain what you meant by "exploding seat option"? I opted for side airbags, so your comment intrigues me.

Well, the main reason we are waiting is because we've looked at a few places, and no one in my area really has them. We search for about an hour away and no one had them, and I wasnt about to search too far away. We are buying it in Texas City (its like in between Galveston and Houston) because thats where my mom lives. She going to be the cosigner so she wants to buy local mainly because they deal with our specific bank.

My xA is supposed to be Flint Mica, with an arm rest and floor mats, Scion Security, and Side Airbags. In Automatic. When we told them what I wanted, dude was like "No problem." So we'll see what happens.

I'm at school right now (Sam Houston State) and I normally just stay around campus and I'm in walking distance to everything else. So I'm not too too worried about it yet. It just gets on my nerves that they told me one date, and now pushed it back another week.

I'm sure that's what they'll tell you. If they aren't living up to their part of the agreement, you can get it back.

KLolo, I understand what you mean. If you do decide to search, I don't mean actually driving around looking. When we were searching for my wife's xB, I would go to Yahoo and type in the name of a town near by with "Toyota" after it (like.. Frederick, MD Toyota). That would give me the names and websites for the dealerships. Once your on their web site, most have a listing of their current inventories. We searched a few dozen dealerships in all directions in about 30 minutes. When we found the car, we called to confirm that they had it and told them to hold it. Two hours later, she had her car. The internet is a wonderful tool!

That is mainly my attempt at humor... I am not a fan of airbags in any location. I don't like a small explosive device aimed at my head, so I don't want to sit on one either.
The last reck my ife had was not bad, but the airbags burnt her arms and messed her up pretty bad.

So, it is mainly a personal preference.

However, side air bags are not a popular option on xA's and that might be a reason that KLoLo might be waiting so long.

My current car has front air bags, but I've never had an accident with it ... well, not one strong enough to activate them. I struggled with the side air bag option on the xA ... do I or don't I ... and ended up getting them. Hopefully, I won't regret it. Thanks.

^ Exactly!

Sorry for the sidebar ... Back on topic ...
I too searched dealers on the web using a 150 mile radius. Probably half of the dealers didn't list inventory on their sites, leading me to believe that they just didn't have any in stock. I found one car listed in Indiana that fit my bill, but when I called the dealer, they told me it was sold. If you are particular about the color, trans, and side air bag option (either yes or no), it limits the available inventory considerably. Wait for what you want.

When my dealer told me it could take six weeks, I told myself it would be eight. He called a week and a half after I had put down the deposit to tell me it would be three; I told myself six. This way I'm not disappointed when they can't meet expectations.

You suck.

My wait wasn't too bad for my xA. I think it was 10 days. We didn't want to wait on the RS2 because we weren't sure if ou local dealership would ever get one.
