Default RS-R axle back..AWESOME!!

I picked up one of these RS-R axle backs for ths A a couple weeks back for $150 after shipping. I have to say that it is a nice piece. The quality if the muffler and tubing is better than anything I have ever purchased before. I have had Magnaflow and DC Sports on my tC. The RS-R is freakin awesome.
It looks like they may have a few left.

Here is a pic of it installed.

I was thinking about picking up one of these. It would be my cheapest option in axle backs. Do you have a sound clip or video you could upload? I'd really like to hear it before I buy. Thanks!

I'd love to hear that thing and see a rear view of your car versus the site. Can you give us a little help.

One of these threads talks about RS-R dragging when lowered 1.8" I don't hardly see how, but thought I'd mention it.

That would be great. Thanks.

I don't see how I can go wrong with that amount of money in it. I just don't want to sound like a lawn mower coming down the road.

By the end of the weekend, I am getting exhaust and intake.

Well it arrived well packed and in perfect shape. Definitely high quality. silencer looks like normal one, not three vanes like the website pics, but looks great and high polished.
Also comes with a gasket packed in flat cardboard inside the big box. I think there is a very small video on youtube of the sound, sounded pretty good to me and not too loud. But we'll see how mine does tomorrow. I hope i don't have too much trouble with those rubber hangers.

Just shoot some WD-40 on the rubber hangers. Helps get them off pretty quick and easy.

ok its done. All finished. whew man that was a workout. A bit of grease on the hanger stubs after using some scotchbrite pad on it helped a lot, and the huge screwdrivers and channel-lock pliers are the bees knees for this job. Took me about an hour and half from start to finish. Clamp bolt takes 12mm. The sound is great, and is pretty quiet, almost stock sounding at idle with the silencer in. I havent tried it with silencer out yet. Revs a good bit easier now too. It got rid of my raspiness i had with stock muffler, which was rusted out inside i think. So all in all, good deal!! I will post some pics soon as i get a chance. The fit of it is perfect!!!
**Safety tip: do use jackstands on this job, and i used gloves and old jacket with sleeves, the heatshield on the rear section is SHARP, so be careful guys.**

I had it on my car. I didn't like the look (to ricer for me). Performance and sound was awesome. With the silencer on it is about the same as the stock unit. Without the silencer, it sounded very agressive. The response was great from 3.5k to redline. My car was an automatic with a k&n cold air. My car now have the tanabe. It look very OEM but miss the performance and sound of the RS*R.

Here is a pic of the RS*R from behind:

Here is the link to the sound clip. I got the exhaust from him.

Did you ever have any issues with melting the rear bumper? Seems to sit fairly close to it, mine has same amount of room as your pic shows. I have some heat tape already, I'm thinking about putting some under the bumper just above where the tip comes out.

It did melt it a little b/4 I made some adjustment.

Here is a pic b/4 the adjustment

The pic show that it sit a little to the left. In it the tip sit right under the bumper. The adjustment that I made was use some zip tie and attach it to the hanger and pull it a bit to the right. By doing this I get about 1/4" gap between the tip and bumper.

Here is a pic of the adjustment

Hope this help.

I just wash the car so that I could take some pic. No trick or paint run. The spring are TEIN H Tech (lower 1.1" front and rear).

What I did was bend a piece of aluminum into something like a "j". Or use a prybar, as long as it fit inside the inside diameter of the silencer, and give it a few tug. Being mine was made out of aluminum, I had to re-bend it a few time.

That tightness at the exit point at the bumper seems a little odd - just looks like it could be trouble. A little bend on the mounting bracket should help.

Any issues now that you have had it for a few days....running the car i am sure.

Mine was ok side to side, and had a quarter inch gap at the top. It had me worried a bit, but i used some heat blocking tape underneath the bumper, so I'm sure it will be fine now. I will keep watch on it for a little while to be sure.

Thanks Man!
Finally came out... I used the metal pipe extension for my jack and worked it out.

Ordered mine this morning. Shipped this afternoon. WOW! I can't wait. I've got some idea on that "close to the bumper issue."

Ordered an Injen Short Ram Intake, too. $215 from autoanything.com.

Should be a fun weekend.

Got the exhaust today. It was packed well and looks like good quality. It's pretty impressive when you pull it out of the box and look at that tip. I have a cat-back SS Gibson on my Nissan Titan - It's not quite that quality, but still good. Overall a great deal for the money.

Exhaust on tomorrow. Intake tomorrow evening. It's going to be a fun commuter car by Wednesday, if everything goes right.
