i l,ooked in the manual and it states the airbags will ONLY go of if you are in a head on accident, will Not go of if rear ended, side impact or roll over

OKAY, so here it is:

If you've ever had an airbag go off, you'd know how bad it hurts. . . you're arms are left with burn marks, but in the case of a severe crash, such that your body ends up colliding with the steering wheel at extreme speeds, it will save your life, despite the burns.

Having said that, your damage to your front end isn't all that bad. The damage to the side is incredible. . . no wonder it was totalled. Furthermore, you're lucky the traffic signal fell. . . newer ones are designed to do just that. A common cause of death in accidents is a a collision with an immovable object. . . like a pole. It's like being hit by two semi-trucks. Had the light not fallen, I'm sure you're airbags would have deployed in the second collision. . . and I'm sure you'd be in a lot of pain.
