Default TRD lowering springs and 17's

i was wondering if anyone had pictures of their xA with TRD lowering springs on [stock shocks/struts] and on 17's. the reason im asking is that i just put on 17's on my xA but the fender gap is so HUGE that it makes my 17's look like 15's. i was hoping that the TRD springs would lower them enough to at least make my ride not look like one of those wind up toy cars. thanks.

Check out the pics of my car in profile or in the RS1 thread. I've got the TRD springs and the Enkei wheels are 17s. I think it took the wheel gap enough for it to not look obnoxious, and dropped it low enough that it doesn't also look overdone. The ride is a bit more stiff on stock shocks. If you travel bumpy roads, you'll be feeling it all.

Edit: Here's a better pic

If you want to go half an inch lower (1.5" total), look at Teins, and if you want the full 2 inches, look at Tanabe df210s or Goldlines.

Here's mine with TRD springs and stock shocks. You will probably see a lot of RS1s in this thread since they come with 17" wheels.

the wheel gap will also be effected by the size of tires your using

I just put my TRD springs in a month or so back. So I can't really comment. I'm thinking I'll be going to the TRD shocks maybe next spring. Mostly because I don't want to do another alignment this year again. If you got the cash, grab the springs and the shocks at the same time. May as well get them done while you've got them all out for the springs anyhows. Supposedly that will bring the drop down slightly more, and hopefully make the ride a bit smoother. (Wont know till I get around to doing it, I guess.)

Now this is a cool thread. I've been wanted to do 17s on my ride for some time, reading this has convinced me. When I get the money I'll definitly be puting in some 17s with the TRD springs.

I've had mine on the car for about 2 years now and I'm still on the stock shocks. 30K+ miles on the car too. The ride is a bit rougher with the TRDs but other than that I've had no problems.

The springs were my first mod since the wheel gap in stock form was really bad. I still want to go a bit lower but can't afford coilovers right now.

Do you guys think it would be that bad looking or that big of a gap with 15's?

just for a comparison I know it says stock shocks but I have TRD shocks and springs and pics are of 2 different rims with 2 different tire sizes

First the newest one 17x7s 215/45s

Second one is 17x7s 215/35s

Notice the HUGE difference in wheel gap between the 2 diffent tire sizes

my '06 xA came with 15" steel wheels and the gap was WAY HUGE. i thought that by upgrading to 17's the gap would be filled adequately but there was still a considerable amount left [hence this thread].

i did some research and i spoke to my friends that are gearheads and they told me that i needed to lower my car in order to fill that ugly a$$ gap. with my situation [and setup] i decided to go with TRD lowering springs [which would give me a 1" drop]. luckily some people were kind enough to respond and post up pics of their cars with the mod already done so i would atleast see how my car would look if i did use the TRD's.

comedykills brought up a very good point with the tire size. PAY ATTENTION TO THAT. my tires are 205/40's, the same size as those on the rs 1.0.

with 15's i'd imagine that you would have to lower your car more than if you had on wheels with a larger diameter. [i may be wrong.] look up the xA spring rates in the suspension and handling section, they should help you decide on which springs to buy. one other thing i found out [from a response and from my friends] that you may want to keep in mind, the lower you go the harsher the ride will be on stock shocks. also, if you lower your car beyond a certain amount make sure that your shocks are able to handle it. and make a post to see if anyone has a lowered xA on stock wheels [or with ur specific setup]. i think i ran accross some when i was doing research.

ps. i dont know if you already know this but the gap won't be noticable if ur right next to the car looking down on ur wheels. u would have to be at least 6 feet away to see.

The overall diameter stays the same when go plus 1, 2 or 3 inches in rim size if you use the right profile ratio. Thus the gap remains the same. If you change the ratio then the overall diameter changes but you also change the gear ratio and it will throw off the speedometer. Here's a great tool for comparing rim sizes and tire ratios...

Default RIDE UPDATE

after sitting in my garage for about a week my TRD springs finally went in and heres how they look.

before

after

i know its not much of a "before and after" pic but the gap difference is really noticable.

i am very happy with the results thank you to everyone that replied and helped out.
