2006 xA - automatic - stock

I just got 37 miles/gal on my last tank. On this tank I went about 50-65 mph highway driving, and had to use the A/C the last couple of days.

My previous tank was 39 miles/gal and that was going 50-55 mph highway driving.

yea man 5k is unfortunately my shift point. One reason is yes I go up a lot of hills, and 2 a lot of people go fast around here. Like if I granny drive during the day I will get 9 fingers, 10 yells, and maybe 1 bump....Welcome to NOVA, #1 in aggressive driving/road rage. I also shift to 5k cuz i still get good mpg compared to my dad's SUV. I like speed, and turning uphill at 40mph is hard to do at 3k....

I would sure like to learn how to hypermile. I seem to get super crappy mileage when I shift under 2.2k. I think the engine tries to hard on these hills so its not even worth granny shifting. Best is 3-4k and I still get 31mpg!

50-55mph is not a responsible driving speed in Los Angeles. That can get you killed Is that a usual mph where you are?

Well, when you take it to 5 grand, up shift and use your engine to brake as much as possible and kill the engine at long lights.

Sure I love fuel economy too, however I do so much highway driving, I can afford to be agressive in the few city areas I go to keep up with traffic and in many cases beat traffic and cut off other drivers than them cutting me to get where I need to go and switch lanes.

INFINI and xa, when I speed and or keep up with traffic I draft so its a break even going faster with less wind resistance. I was drafting a semi doing 90, burning like 2 gallons per mile, yet my scan guage was reading 45mpg.

245 miles on 8 gallons of gas. Yup, 31 mpg. Those short trips to 7-11 and fast food are taking their toll. Oh well, worse fuel economy so far, got 160 hours in in over time #2 position in sales and 38 in performance. Well worth the few extra gallons of gas.

Just got 33 MPG on the way back from NC today, with the bike on the rack.

Stuck it at 3500 RPM, which is about 68-69 MPH. Not too shabby for having the bike on top.

Interesting. at 68-70 to even about 75 I stay at about 3000 RPM. I feel pretty comfortable my MPG is pretty decent at this point when I keep this RPM.

If I could perpetually be in 4th gear, going 44-48 mph .... I'd always get at least 40-44 mpg's

Yeah, the RPM difference on the highway between the auto and the manual is pretty crazy.

I wish I was only turning 3k RPM at 75.

Yeah, rev it to 5 grand a few times and watch the gas needle move. I want to use my ot pay to buy a muffler, but after hearing the sound clips, I would shift wayy too late to hear it grawl and f up my fuel economy. I am at 270 miles so far, got 1/4 tank to go before fill up, cant wait to see the results with mines and about 50 miles of my dads driving, but I idled at a few drive ins .

I am laughing at the tv owners and xb owners who did not get an xa. How can a square vehicle or one with a 2 liter engine be fuel efficient is beyond me.

The xA is an awesome little car, but the xB is much more unique and much roomier. The tC...yeah i don't get it.
