I have a RS 1.0 with automatic. My best is 36 MPG, worst is 32 MPG. Average is 35 MPG. I use 87 octane and drive about 90% freeway, but with some stop and go (Wash. D.C. traffic) almost every day.

Opps!

I think I may have screwed things up and accidently removed the poll... All I did was go back and edit some text that wasn't right in the first post, and the poll dissappeared... I'm trying to talk to the admin to recover the data...

Sorry folks!

YES!!!!

I GOT THE POLL BACK, AND DIDN'T LOOSE ANY OF THE INFO!!!! Man, I should get like a free spring kit for figuring this out! Even one of the forum admin's said they couldn't get the data back.

Anyways, when I was trying to fix things, it wouldn't let me fix the poll w/o adding new selections. Well, as you can see, they're out of order! Blame the forum software. Unfortunately, I can't delete the selections..

By the way, one more thing, although it asks you to vote again instead of showing the results (when you've already voted), that's ok. I've already checked and it won't let you vote again if you've already voted.

Just go straight to the results if you've already voted!

I would have to say that my average has been around 36 city. I have the aem intake, and trd sport muffler. That might help a little. I have gotten around 45 on hiway. Just what i'm gettin. I have a stick, and i shift at 3. seams to get the best milage that way. Just my input

Hey, I havn't seen anything from the new folks that have voted, on what they are doing, or their car setup is, to get the 35+ mpg on the poll.

We already know that 2 of you folks have cheated by driving in neutral at every available chance! ; )

Come on guys/gals, let's me honest with this poll.

I'm only around 1400 miles so far, but I haven't gotten above 30mpg yet, and it's ____ing me off.

This tank of gas I'm babying it as much as possible to see what I can get.

If I can't get above 30mpg, I won't be keeping it.

I drove the first 1000+ miles on a trip from San Diego to San Jose. I never stayed at one speed for more than 30 min, and didn't go above 80mph. Sounded like a good break-in to me, but maybe I've messed it up.

I read another guy say that after 3000ish miles the mpg starts to peak, so I'll wait until 5k or so.

Here's hoping...

And sorry for the old post bump. New to the forums and reading waaaay back.

Just got my RS (#144 this week. Had to drive 90 miles to get it. I noticed that odometer didn't match highway mileage markers. It's possible that our mpg's aren't accurate because after 90 miles my odometer showed around 83. At least on the RS, and probably because of the wheels, we may have to add 6-7% to get accurate mpg's.
Maybe a few others taking long drives can check odometer accuracy for us

I voted for 38 mpg but I've gotten 40 mpg once. I drive a xA 5 SPD stock.

I think a lot of things can come into play when it comes to measuring your mileage. Can't quite remember but I believe I read somewhere that gas mileage in the winter is usually not as good as the summer due to the colder and denser air. Also, isn't the gas a little different when it is very cold out? I live in NYC so I can't quite comment whether or not elevation affects mileage. ANother reason people could be getting better mileage is if they drive behind a tractor trailor. Dangerous but definitely less air resistance

There seems to be a huge drop off in mileage over 55 mph on the highway. I got almost 6 mpg more by keeping it between 55 and 60. On the highway around here that's hard to do!

****I've heard that cold air (hence the number of people buying CAI) helps mileage and performance, so I expect to get 35+++ once it gets cold out
i think that the density of the air negates the density of the air i read somewhere, that although the air is dense, so the engine sucks more in, the car itself has to move through denser air, therfore negating any hp gain. dunno if thats right though.

oh, and i've never been higher than 35 mpg. and i've got about 35k on the odometer. i drive pretty lead footed though. but, i think it's more a product of the crap gas we get in california.

When I first got my xA, I had about 38+ mpg. Now, I think I get around 34 - 35 unless I'm going 70 - 80 mph on the freeway, I get around 30 or so.

Default Xa gas milage

I'm on my third tank of gas. I'm filling up at about half a tank. My first tank , I was getting 28--all stop and go driving to work. This last fill, I'm up to 32 mpg. I figure I can squeeze about 32-34 the way I drive. I'm ok with that--especially the way I drive.
I figure the xa will get about 35-38 on the highway. I'll let all know when I get my next results.

My milage history...

Odo mpg
295 30
541 32
822 28
906 24
1021 32 (~90% 55mph highway. Purposely set aside a few hours for a test to get the max milage possible)
1185 31
1452 28
1715 29
1835 25
2064 30
2184 26
2436 25
2613 26
2860 25
3114 26
3352 24

My last 2-3 gas tanks I've been babying it like crazy, trying to get back in the 30s again, but I can't seem to get above 26mpg now... Very very dissapointing...
