Default window tinting

Hey,
I'm thinking of tinting my windows for my xa. Any suggestions on types, is it worth doing myself or professionally. Any input is greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Get it done professionally, unless you happen to be a professional tint man.

I went with 35% all the way around, sans windshield, when I got my car, and wish I went with 25%.

Tint makes out wedges look SO much better (not that they NEED the help, but...)

I also went with 30% on the front windows and 20% on everythign behind the B Pillar. I chose a metallic charcoal colored tint to match the flint mica paint and love the way it turned out (though it could be a bit darker...)

Looks light n this shot:

And dark in this shot:

Get it done proffesionmally. The cars you see with a million bubbles or purple tint didn't start out that way.

I just got mine done professionally last tuesday. Came out great. I went with 20 on the back, 50 on the front, and a strip across the windshield. I went with legalish on the front, but I would have gone darker on the back, like 5% if i had to do it again. I was concerned about backing up into things at night, but really its not all that dark.

good luck!

Just make sure you get a fully metalized or ceramic film. Both are more expensive than regular dye film, but they won't crack of fade (turn purple) like even the best dye film will.

If the budget allows, go for the ceramic. Yeah it's pricey, but it has a nice dark look and will last forever. Plus it won't interfere with navigation/GPS systems....if you have that type of thing.

I got a quote of $175 to do mine. I think I'd do 35 on everything but the windshield.

But I think I might like a bit darker on the back... maybe 20 on the back three windows? Is that price in the ballpark?

Thanks, Andy

With 25 all the way around the tint will be lighter in the front than the rear.
I even saw a guy with 5% for the rear 3 and like 30% for the front 4 windows and it looked really even.

I was wondering if anyone else was going for a really even look, what they tried and did it turn out as even as expected?

35% isn't too bad. It's dark enough yet light enough so the cops won't give you trouble.

I got Llumar brand, they come with a lifetime warranty.

I'd get it professionally done, but you gotta watch where you go. The place I went to didn't put my window strips on right, thus, it messed up my tint when i put the windows down/up. They redid it though for free.

I just went to a tint shop and the sales guy warned me that in california its illegal to tint the two front windows but he'd be happy to tint the front if I wanted him to. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I was thinking of 35 all around to make it even. any suggestions. Anyone have any comment on the Silhouette HP window films from Johnson Window Films?

Not sure if anyone from LA here but it;s illegal to do a complete tint. You can do it, but you will eventually get a ticket. They want to see the driver So with an xA here is my Legal tints I think I want 35 but not sure and it was exactly $90.

and

and

I find I very much like the tint.
