Ok did he use the same process as the factory paint? Primer...2 layers....RED 3 Layers and then 2 of Clear. Also did he sand down the pieces or just paint over the sliver paint? I don't know what to say.... but 3PO is 3PO....RED is the worst color to match

depends on how he is painting it, if he had to use sealer, the sealer color will not be the same color as the primer, and toyota's primer is definately not the same color as other brands such as ppg or 3m. your best be will be to use a good base coat, to make sure there is enough color on the part you want to paint as nothing will show through.

Harrison - there is no way for me to drive down to Delray at this time.

I would rather him match it to another RS1.0 with teh same "color" than just paint it and be matched to a salsa red. At least him matching it to another RS will be remotely close. I wouldn't mind paying for it then.

i would like to know how your painter got paint from toyota, thats impossible, toyota dosent manufacture paint. if he is telling you that he got a "factory pack" all that means is that he got a pre mixed color from a paint mfg (ppg, dupont, ect.). if the people refering to a "gun" that matches paint are talking about the color eye, that wont work either. all the color eye give you is a "blendable" color, in no way will it give you an exact match. it may not even give you the same color code as your car. while i do agree that red is difficult to match, if your painter knows what he is doing he will be able to match it. he should be spraying "test panels" to check the color before he actually puts it on your car, especially if he is trying to match the color and not blend it. can you ell me what brand of paint he is using?

honestly, I have no idea. He told me that the paint came from the dealer, and that its my fault the color doesn't match.

I am going to someone else to get my stuff painted from now on. Somene locally. I have a friend that just got a paint booth and what not. I am going to see what he would charge me.

yeah, already on teh look. like I said, I am going to get someone that is closer.

I am kinda mad that he blamed the color on me. He wants his money, but I don't want to pay for something that isn't right. ya know?
