Default The xA can haul a LOT more than I thought!

A few days ago, me, my wife, and our 12 yr old son stopped in to our local Wal-Mart Super Center to pick up a few things. Once we were in the store, my wife decides that since we were already there, we should go ahead and do a full-blown grocery run. We proceded to fill up a cart with two full weeks worth of groceries. Also, my wife runs a crisis pregnancy center and she said she needed to pick up some stuff for them too. So, along with our FULL cart of personal groceries, she got a second cart and put in three big cubes of drinking water and a big 24 roll pack of paper towels.
We started to head for the registers when it hit me......we didn't drive her land-yacht (Buick LeSabre), we drove my xA!! We debated about leaving some stuff behind, but we decided to give it a shot. We put the larger half of the rear seat down and started packing it in. We had our son sit in the smaller rear seat and hold the big pack of paper towels on his lap. We got ALL OF IT IN!!!!! I was so impressed. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, my son said, "This car rocks!"

You should have taken a picture, they speak louder than words.

That would have been funny. "When we get to the house, just sit tight. I wanna run in and get the camera and get a picture of this before anyone get's out."

You're not married, are you.

haha, that gives me a cute visual with all of you and the stuff in the xA driving down the street. By the way, how did it handle? Did it feel sluggish at all?

Actually, it handled fine. I thought it was going to be very slow and sloppy, but it wasn't. It felt good.
My wife and I (both up front) had the same space we always do. My son was the only one who had to hold anything. I was surprised. If you had told me ahead of time that the xA could hold two full weeks of groceries plus a few extra bulky items, plus three people, I would have said, "No way". But it did just fine. I love my xA.

Yea the xA totally rocks in interior space. From the outside it looks like a mini sized car, but the inside is very spacious.

I once had to head to hope depot to pick up a ton of gardening stuff. Turns out it can haul 10 packs of soil (heavy!) and 10 trays of mixed flowers. I couldn't do that in any car I've had before!

So far I have only had to stuff an assemble it yourself computer cabinet/armoire thingy. I folded the seats and my xA swallowed the box whole...! I had a similar experience with my Echo at Home Depot. I loaded on of the flatbed shopping carts with a 50' roll of chainlink fence, a bunch of 5' and 10 ' poles that hold the fence together once its been erected, and two 40lb bags of concrete, plus all of nickle and dime stuff that would normaly fit just anywhere because it wasn't bulky stuff...

Anyways, the store attendants said they would help me load the items after I finished paying. As I walked outside, they asked where my "truck" was... I said I would bring my vehicle around. (Laughing to myself inside) When I pulled up driving my Echo, everyone laughed (it probably didn't help the hauling image any that it was a two door). I just got out, popped the trunk, folded the seats, and started stuffing!

Everything fit! The roll stuck out of the trunk a bit, but only about 1/7 of it the 10' poles stuck out a litle too, but not past the chainling roll. The poles ran all the way up to the cubby holes next to the radio/climate control *****... Needless to say, if I can fit all of that in my Echo I had, imagine what I can squeeze into my xA!

I work for Jamba Juice and I tend to haul around a ton of product in the process.

One day we had a severe orange shortage in our district. One store placed an emergency order for all of us. I ran over to that store with the intention of only picking up our 10 cases of oranges. Well, I figured I'd get some for the stores I passed on the way home too. I folded the back seats down and crammed and stacked 25 forty pound cases of oranges in the back of my Scion xA RS 1.0. That's literally 1000 pounds of oranges in the back of my car. I'll probably never do it again and the only proof I have is a sh!tty Polaroid picture.

I fit a 3/4" sized dorm fridge, with other assorted items from Best Buy. Everything fit! With the back seats dropped, I am confident you could carry almost anything. Lovin' the xA!

I have been using mine for moving this past week. i hauled almost everything i own that fits into a box or bag...in just 3 trips. i was amazed! had to borrow Dads truck for the bigger stuff that any typical car would not be able to move...ie: dresser, bed, etc.

I had kind of like the same experience with my big'O dogs kennels. The good thing is that since they fit in the car, the dogs get AC during the summer and not a killer sun from like the back of a truck.

I remember I had to get about 12-13 bags of ice, I think they weighed about 20 lbs each...folded the seats down and they fit perfectly! However, I did feel a bit on the heavy side, but it still handled great :-)
