I haven't payed too much attention to mine, but usually get a little over 31 mpg...I think...have to go do more match next time I fill up.

Anyway, it's still great that most of my friends are paying a good 15-20 more than me at the gas station, but I'm getting the same distance out of my tank.

I was driving along the interestate the other day during the gustly 45mph winds along i 95 and I was rather amazed at the drafts the other cars wer emaking to drive in. Ever hear nascar talk about aero dynamics, catching the flow, taking the air off a car?

I found I needed a lot of petal to maintain 60mph, where as normally a light pressure gives me 65mph. When an suv cut me off, I started to gain speed again til it drove off more than 4 spaces in front of me. I went back to 55. I found an suv running up beside me, so I switched lanes to go behind it and zoom, I was back up to speed with little petal in his slip stream.

Another way to tell if you are driving efficient is the noise your car makes. Does it sound like an electric car or does it go zrrroooommmmmm, vvvvvrrrrooooommmmmmmmm......Mines is rather quiet unless I want to pass someone or pull out in front of someone.

Maybe xar is referring to the tranny not shifting when its cold? I think I recall reading something on the edmunds forum about the automatic scions will ony shift into and out of 2nd when placed in D oblytil the blue coolant light on the dash board goes off.

They had a few posts about folks getting horrible fuel economy. I do not know about other users here, but I have always gotten the est fuel economy for every car I have own, so its gotta be my driving style to get the epa figures in any car I touch. I ve own a large vehicle as a big honking e250 extended body van and smallest of cars as a geo metro xfi.

Hey cobb that's not bad, you're approaching Prius mileage without the expense.

I went 116miles on 3 gallons of gas, about 38mpg I believe.

Loading the car with sams club for the parents does burn a bit more gas and take more throttle to maintain speed. I have been going half a tank since I have had to commute 118 miles a day vs 20. Kind of scarie to see the flashing gas pump logo on the dash board. Do I have a yellow light too or is that the xb thing?

Ive hit as high as 46, 43 and worse as 32mpg. Not bad for a nice small car with plenty of pep.

My best fuel economy was Monday last week. That was the only thing I had going for me as I found my manager quit, my team was getting split across 8 floors and various teams where I work. I did not feel like sleeping and just drop to my folks and back. I went 140 miles on 3 gallons of gas. I had just filled up that Saturday and frove from Surry to Richmond. My apartment to work and back. Then on Monday my apartment to job 1, job 1 to job 2 and job 2 back to Surry county. I think the secret to that was beeking it at 60 with cruise control since they have cracked down on speeders on i95.

Again to check your fuel economy. Fill it up til the pump clicks off 3 times. DRIVE. Refill to see how much it takes to get the pump to click off 3 times. Type your miles traveled into a calculator and divide it by the amount of gas you bought.

Driving 65 on back roads, 85 down the interstate, and lots of spirited driving for shoppping in rush hour traffic, 125 miles 3.8 gallons = 32.89 mpg.
