Default $400 too much?

Ok, my xb is about a month old now and after reading posts from this Awesome site I went and bought a bunch of crap. I live in an apt bldg so I need to have a shop put it on for me. They want $400 to install an HKS catback, AEM CAI, DC headers and Tein lowering springs. Am i getting ripped?

its really easy to do all but the springs. honestly, just go to a mall, hit up the top level in a parking structure and do it there..cops never go up top(its what i do) or if you have any friends, which im sure you do...just go the there house

I would have to say that the header is the hardest out of all.

The rear springs and Exhaust can be done in the same shot will take about 10 minutes for both.

the intake is something that you can do in any parking spot, even at you apt. building.

I guess if you dont have the tools it makes things harder.

I guess as others have stated above, do you have a place to put the mods on at, do you have the tools to do the job. I have done the intake, header and exhaust myself on my own xB, but my exhaust was an axle back. Does the cat back exhaust bolt on or does it need to be welded on. As for the springs i have not yet done those on mine so i dont have a clue what is even involved in changing them. So if you dont have the right tools or a good place to put the mods on at(or know somone that does) it may be worth your money and time to have somone put them on for you.The price stated above works out to $100 dollars a mod, which maybe a little overpriced for some of the mods, but do they gurantee their work and can they have it done in a timely manner(3-4 hours or so) Just my two cents worth. Good Luck.

most things you buy come with great instructions. Go buy some decent tools from sears or home depot ( lifetime guarantee) cause you get what you pay for. get in there and learn. man there are so many people on here that can literally talk you through anything you do to your xb. that 400.00 is the mechanic charging you for your lack of knowledge. putting the parts on yourself is what it is all about. and these mods are all fairly simple. If you were trying to put on a super/turbo charger as your first mod it would be another story. this stuff is not rocket science $400.00 is a lot of money you could use for other things to improve your ride. ask your friends for a driveway for a few hrs. you will be much happier with the results and saying that you did all the mods. yourself.

remember also : all vehicles have basically the same parts regardless how the look. so If you have friends that own four wheel drives or sports cars or whatever and they turn wrenches for fun they can probably help you out. and toyota built vehicles are one of the less complicated makes to work on. sometimes your hand cant fit into the small holes chasing for a certain bolt but the stuff you have is pretty much easy to get to.

What he said! Learn by doing.
You'll need your $400 when you get old & can't do it yourself anymore!
