AC oil adapter wont install onto engine block
I bought an AC oil adapter for my xB and am having no luck installing it. The billet piece goes against the block, o-ring side up, but when i pass the male/female treaded piece up through the center of the billet adapter, the threads will only just 'touch' against the male treads that hold the oil filter to the engine block. Any one else have this problem? Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks! Chuck

Yes, that's correct. From the other posts I've read, it sounds like others have used the adapter with no problems. like I said, the male treads coming out of the engine aren't long enough to tread into the male/female piece. When I push the male/female piece through the billet adapter, the top of the female end is 'just' flush with the center surface of the billet adapter, just like it shows in the pictures on their web site. This leads me to believe that the male threads coming out of the engine need to be longer. ??? chuck

Hy Chuck, I do have the adapter but have not installed it yet. I do know that people have installed it with no problems. Try to PM newtmaker he has this adapter installed and he might be able to assist. He is a nice guy and a lot of help. Good luck.

well i bought it too and had the same problem as you wasn't very pleased with the results
so i sold it on here less then i paid for it
was going to do an oil gauge but since that didn't go as planned so i went with a vacuum gauge (not a boost gauge)

Purchase the adapter from Greddy, it shows it on their site for $68.00 www.greddy.com That one fits on the xB. :D

There is a small problem with the Greedy version. It uses metric pipe threads (1/8x2 and most senders for gauges come with US std threads (1/8x27). You can get the metric senders from some of the better gauge makers like VDO and there are adapters available. I don't like using adapters because they puxh the sender further out from the block/adapter making room a problem sometimes. The AC unit WILL work with the proper filter fitting. I believe upsguy has received a unit not designed for the xb. Mine works great and when installed looks just like the stock filter boss area and filters fit just like stock.

Yea...mine seems to fit just fine...seems a lil strange, call up who you got it from...theres no mistaking wether this thing fits or not...if its the right part it will fit hands down.

Actually, the greddy version is in fact 1/8" NPT for the gauges. I have the gredd unit on mine and it took my sending units just fine....

I was going by what was told to me by someone else here on the forums. Must have been wrong. Good to hear that another option is available. Most of the sources I have seen for the AC unit are priced around 50.00 so it seems to be the cheaper version, as well as available in different colors.

I have the GReddy unit as well and I purchased some 1/8 fittings with a barb at the end from autozone, is it supposed to thread that tight. Or do I need to get M10*1.0 threaded barb fitting to screw on with ease. I know leakage is an issue but I wanted to make sure the 1/8 fitting was just snug not the wrong thread size.

I installed the oil filter sandwich adapter from glow shift. Had no trouble with it. The center nut grabbed about three threads without compression, which is OK in my book. The Scion xB 1.5l will need the 3/4 UNF-16 oil filter sandwich adapter plate. Mine came with 1/8 NPT thread Size for the Oil Press and Oil Temp Sensor.

the thread is titled AC Autotecnic oi filter adapter prob. right? not just buy a greddy?
ok how many people have had no problems with this adapter? not many from what i have heard or read.
i bought the AC autotechnic one cause thats what was around,
yes i know the greddy one is so much better. what ever! you buying it for those of us who arent as cool? didnt think so!
either way im stuck with it and have to make it work
but when i ask why it dosent work i get no answers or some sort of B.S. but no one ever gives me a good answer.
does AC know about all the problems and controversy this product has caused?
if its a case of a bad product then why do the sell them-they should stand by there product right
fix it or recall it! has any one gone to them or called!
this thread has been the most help out of all of them yet on this product and thank you guys! you have realy helped with some of my questions thank you =)
but some one always name drops the other brand and it just bugs me. i get it, but im stuck with this one unless you want to trade me a Greddy one( ididnt think so)
id like to know what other problems people have had.
ive heard of sealing problems with the adapters, the thread problem, PSI inconsitancies and possible solutions( other than get a greddy one ,they both do the same thing whats the difference?i know the fittings, it was a retorical question!)
but never a sucsess story that was in detail maybe i should document my install? for proof this thing sucks or there is alot of name dropping fools (if i ad a gredddy or greedy sticker will it make me faster too. 5MPH for each from what ive been told!)
i think there is another way to go about this but the problems are still there. should i K.O. the guy who sold it to me?
or should i just cross my fingers and pray it works without a hitch!?
i leave it up to you.................. im to frustrated to deal with this problem of reliability and lack of support for a simple product
id rather run a remote beehive filter anyway(how many know what im talking about? if you know you rock! if you dont =P)
plus id like to send this thread or info to AC maybe they dont know, the might have a problem they arent aware of
but still thanx guys this has been the most help =)

i think the problem from what im getting from this product is that the fittings not long enough to hold?
but ive found a Fram filter according to Summit online has a 3/4-16 thread thats supposed to fit a scion xb this may be the key to so many problems with AC's adapter not fitting!
if the 3/4-16 thread is right then i plan on just using a remote filter adapter not a sandwich plate! problem solved, then "T" the sensor any where!
i hope im right, i may have a cure for a manifactures mistake! make longer fittings not a big deal! i might make a few just to cut even
i found out that 3/4-16 is mostly a ford ap.
and that full comp. oil cooler setups are around $100 with all the needed hardware
including the oil cooler, bypass adapter (the part to the block), hoses, filter adapter so why mess with a sandwich plate for a few bucks more go hardcore race!
