They should help with mileage, but it's a little tougher to keep that right foot calm with the newly added power.

A little searching will help a lot. Here's a thread from a couple days ago:

it should with go up with the intake but with the exhaust(axle back) its purely a cosmetic mod just to change the sound i dont think youll see a MPG increase with it

the intake and exhaust willincrease the mpg as long as you dont step on it. They both increase horsepower and torque (the exauist isnt purely cosmetic, look at dyno graphs for proof). Since the engine will be more powerfull it will not have to work as hard to move the car, thus the increase in mpg, again, as long as your right foot is controlled

what dyno graphs have you seen? can you show me? i know ive seen the ones in publications showing that it didnt even make 1hp or 1 ft lb tq on the xb from the DC exhaust and its widely know that AXLE BACKS do nothing for this particular engine aside from change the tone...not saying ALL engines just ours a full cat back or headerback would probably show some slight gains with the proper piping math
here is the dyno from import tuner

I added the Injen Short Ram and gained about 2mpg. Next will be headers and exhaust (Strup?).

You won't save enough in MPG to offset the costs of the upgrades, if you're purely looking for economics. If you're using it for an excuse to mod, I can understand that. The biggest effect on gas mileage is driving habits.

For me, I don't care about offsetting the cost, I just like more of a cruising distance. an extra 10 miles is worth it to me. +looks & sound is always good too.
