Why are you wanting a new aternator? Do you want to upgrade or is yours bad?

Find a local Auto Electric shop with a good reputation and let them rebuild it. My starter went out on my '91 Explorer recently, only had 227K miles on it, and they replaced it with one that they rebuilt for $146 parts and labor. I was going to pay $115 just for a starter.

Maybe the belt could be squealing on the pulley, because of too little tension on the belt.
Or maybe the alternator bearings could be squealing, from too much tension on the belt.
In either case, the alternator itself is not the problem and does not need to be rewound.
If the alternator needed to be rewound, it would not be charging and you would see a red light and there would be a diagnostic trouble code.
