Detection Condition:
When the mass air flow sensor circuit has a short for more
than 3 sec. under the 4,000 rpm engine speed.
Possible Trouble Areas:
- Open or short in mass air flow sensor circuit.
- Mass air flow sensor
- ECM
Diagnosis:
After confirming DTC ”P0100, P0102 or P0103”, use the hand-held tester or the OBD II scan tool to confirm the mass air flow ratio from the ”DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ALL”.
Air Flow Value (gm/s)
Approx. 0.0 = Mass air flow sensor power source circuit open, or VG circuit open or shorted.
271.0 or more = E2G circuit open.

Are you running a stock intake?

No man I have a AEM clone from e-bay! but for a long time

You might want to check the wiring going to the MAF. There are instances where one of the wires break off due to engine vibration. I have only known this to happen on the stock intake system, but at least this is something you might want to check on.

I'm thinking it's a wire problem too. The MAF is just a sensor and needs a good signal to work. Never heard of frying one. Just inspect all the wires going to it. You might find that one is cut or shorted out. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

There is a another more likely possibility for you getting a MAF code P0103, that it is dirty. Aftermarket intake? Or poor maintence.
Here is why it can cuase a CEL. The MAF has a wire that is heated, the passing airflow cools it down creating a certain voltage, depeding how much air passes over this element and cools it depends on the voltage it inputs to the ECM, allowing the ECM to calculate airflow.
Now if this element gets dirty it has no way to have the airflow cool it down properly if at all, thus giving a false airflow reading or just not responding. Believe it or not a dirty MAF is a COMMON problem. Toyota MAF's just don't fail, only in rare cases. simple solution is to clean the MAF.
Checking the wiring is good in all if 1) the car is old 2) Someone has been pulling on the wiring or playing under the hood. I am not saying wiring cannot be at fault, but it is unlikely considering the age of the car and how well toyota engineers and produces cars.

How did you clean them? What chemical did you use? How long was the exposure for the MAF and the chemical used to clean it? Expose it too long and it eats the MAF element ruining it.
I am a Toyota tech so my exposure to the toyota/scion product is extensive, and I am intriqued by your problem.

I use eletrical contact cleaner to clean them, but the first one fail like after 2 years of use and the second one fail like 4 hours of use (note, the second one is a used maf, not new) I did all the test the service manual have and everything is ok so maybe the second one is already to fail when I use it(sorry if you dont understand something)
