do you think by looking at the picture that this is less efficient than a 4-1 because of the angles that the tubes have to come together at to fit the 4-2-1 apparatus. tell me what you think!

I'm not sure where I read it (think it was scionlife), but someone had said that 4-2-1 header would out perform the 4-1. I'd like to know if that is the case. I have the DC SPORT header now. Sorry I don't have your answers

i heard that somewhere too, but wouldn't you think that when the header is going from 4 to 2, that the sharp angle the air is moving at would be less efficient than that of a normal 4-1 header with longer more smoothed angled tubes

I'm not a header know it all, but the DC Sports header looks much better. Cleaner bends, nice ceramic coating for heat, etc...

one of these 4-2-1 header ads I saw said that that it's design is to give more low end power where the 4-1 has top end.

that is the gist of it. but that obx looks like real crap. the bends look bad. the pipes look smashed as they enter the collectors. someone needs to dyno one after the other to test.

Basically it's a flow issue. Kinda like this:
lets say you have a single "straw" that comes
splits into four at one end, and
you have to drink out of a glass with it.
Then say you had TWO straws, with each of them
splitting into two, to make four. It would be
easier to drink out of the two straws than the
one straw, even though it splits into four.
Same with the exhaust. If there are more pipes
to flow the exhaust through, the engine doesn't
have to work as hard to squeeze all the exhaust through
a single pipe.

Last header I installed on my Altima was a nightmare, which makes me hesitant on installing this one. It does look 10x easier to install.

Are the gains really that noticeable? Bang for buck looks like a good deal though. I need to stop reading these forums. Makes me spend too much.

honestly, headers on our cars are so easy. I can count all the bolts off the top of my head , and could honestly probably do it in my sleep if I had a hoist.
I've seen some scary headers, my vitz was certainly not one of them. I didn't even need to pull my strut bar off.
I'm running the DC 4-1 BTW (stock on the left) , which IMHO looks nicer than that OBX one .

I hear bad things about all OBX products. I went with the Megan header because of budget issues. The install is fairly easy, it's just getting all the bolt's loose that is a pain.

well ceramic is good but the mild steel that dc uses is not. the ceramic coating plays down the underhood temps. but yeah.
