A/C Removal..
Just wondering if anyone has done it, yet tried searching for a while couldn't find anything so I just thought I would ask.
Thinking of attempting it any help would be greatly appreciated.

trying to make space in the bay right now.
would the steering rack need to be switched out?
It didnt look like it to me but maybe im wrong. The only issue im really trying to figure out right now would be the shorter belt part number if someone had already done this or had attempted and failed trying to base my decision to go ahead with this on someone elses experience.

sounds like you need to machine or have someone machine you a bracket and pulley, that bolts in the location of the AC.. the gain in HP is very minimal but does help reduce the weight..
im just curious, what are you doing to were you need to remove the AC.. (i understand why.. i just want to know what ARE you doing this for..)

front end conversion and running out of room, and trying to relocate the second battery out of the cab into the bay and got a couple more things im trying to plan. Also sorry for the shortness of my post im at work and trying to look productive which is really hard for me to accomplish even when i am working. In all honesty horsepower is the last of my concerns just trying to make as much room as possible and clean all the extras out of the bay. So the combined opinion is that it would need a machined bracket some sort of rework of the steering rack and still need to figure out the new belt which i still am thinking will be a custom belt in the end.

Finding the appropriate belt should not be too difficult. Just figure out how to rout it, then run a piece of string or a rope the way you want your belt to run and measure the needed lenght. Any auto part store can reference the correct belt by just knowing the lenght and the number of grooves in it.
Now deleting the power steering is very tempting thing to think about. I would totally do it, but would look for a non-power rack and pinion to put in place of the original. I bet in a light weight car like xB it would feel all right. May be an extra turn lock to lock comparing with the power assiseted, but the way you can feel the road is sure worth getting rid of the pump and the lines.

swapping the front end of the body out for another car or truck have two in mind but still trying to figure out which one makes more sense. But really im trying to make the bay as clean as possible while still adding more stuff so removing as many lines and extra stuff helps in that mission atleast

I did it... works great.
Simple, cheap and easy.
(just the way I like my women too)
:D
as a hint... when on the defrost settings... the fan turns on at 85* C instead of 95*c because it thinks there's the load of the A/C on the motor...
great for stop and go or REALLY hot days! ;)
