CAI + Monsoon = CRAP!

CAI + Monsoon = CRAP!
my wife drove our 2006 Xb through a deep puddle, sucked water into the air intake. Car stalled, had to be pushed to dry land.
Would not crank, but only made a lurching, "whungh" sound once then car seemed to reset. Let it sit for an hour, went back and tried again, same thing.
Removed sparkplugs, turned the igniton on, a decent amount of water & fuel shot out. Replaced sparkplugs, same "wungh" sound.
Repeated process, more water & fuel came out, car got further in the starting process then "wungh" sound again.
Repeated process, more water and fuel came out, car sputtered, never really started.
Repeated process, smaller amount of spray, put back together, ignition spinning, after 4 tries of cranking but no spark (3 seconds on the ignition, pumping gas pedal, rest for 10 seconds, try again) engine caught and ran, but with a loud knocking that matched the RPMs.
Drove it @ no more than 20MPH less than 1/2 mile to a friends place, left it there. What is my next step?

wow. i have the monsoon on my xa and in the instruction manual it says to put the water repelant cover on and it does just that, repels water or wisks water away. it is not water proof, so in order for the driver to literally suck water into the engine you would've had to drive through a) a lake or b) a dip that has a lot of water in it, but it too would have had at least a foot of water. shouldnt purposely drive into large body's of water. i have driven several times this summer during the rainy season here in AZ and i am constantly aware of how much water i am driving in.
as with the above post, you hydrolocked the engine and are lucky you even got it to start, BUT............it was a mistake to even start it. see water has this ability to get through even the slightest of cracks hence piston rings and it drips into your oil. water in oil bad, and having it circulating through engine is even worse. if you were so desperate to get it started was to do what you did, but after there was very little water coming out after a while then change the oil, put it back together and start it. also FYI, ether displaces water i.e. brake cleaner, starting fluid, any thing like those.
