Default Can anyone run a VIN check for me

I have a friend trying to buy a 99 GTI VR6 and the guy is saying that he just moved from CA to FL and I wanted to check to see if the car had been registered in CA.

the VIN is WVWDE31J8XW423931

Any help is very much appreciated.

Why not do it the easy way? ask to see the cali reg from the glove box, should have one.
or how about the cali plate? should have one if it was within 6 months and not re-registered yet.
