Default Carbon fiber mufflers

What is the hype about carbon fiber mufflers? Anyone use them? Anyone hate them? Anyone love them? I am trying to drum up a list of pros and cons.

From my experience with them on motorcycles the pros of having a carbon fiber muffler are:
the carbon fiber parts don't conduct much heat
they can't rust (although the metal hardware on them will)
they can be lighter than a comparable metal muffler

I don't know of any cons other than they are normally more expensive.

Are you looking at generic carbon fiber mufflers on ebay? That would be my guess.

Don't waste your time. If you want to save money, go to your local exhaust shop and have them fab you up an exhaust using a Magnaflow muffler, a glass pack for a resonator and your choice of tip. Pretty inexpensive when compared to most aftermarket exhausts, sounds great and performs just as well.

It is just a style of muffler. The term glass pack is usually long cylindrical fiberglass packed mufflers that are tapered on the end. They used to be really popular with muscle cars.

Reality is most mufflers on the market today could technically be considered "glass packs" to some degree as most use some sort of fiberglass packing. There are a few brands that aren't though. They use a chambered muffler. Something like Flowmaster or Spintech.
