Default DC Headers for XB

Let's just say I'm buying a used DC header for really cheap. Is there a possiblitiy of exhaust residue layered inside? If so, could I just simply let it sit in a tub of hot water to fix that problem or what can I do to clean it? I would apprieciate your 2 cents. Peace.

wouldn't worry about residue. I'd be concerned that the mounting surface is free of nicks, chips and scratches, so that it mounts flush with no leaks.

Thanks for the input. That's what I thought, too. Peace

isn't that what the exhaust manifold gasket is for?

Even the best gasket in the world can't help a crappy flange. Deep pits, scratches, gouges, and warping can't be solved with a gasket. Minor stuff yes, but if it is bad, forget it.
