so overall, going to smaller numbers(i.e. 175, 165, 155...) will give increased sidewall height? instead of going to higher numbers(195, 205,215...) which only give tread width? i hope i understand correctly. i understood it all wrong.

the larger the number the wider the tire, which also efects the the (aspect ratio). aspect ratio is the percentage of tire width v.s. tire side wall height, so a wider tire is also taller.
185/60/15 is shorter than 185/70/15, same width, same rim size, but the middle number is the aspect ratio. 185/60/15 is just slightly shorter than 195/60/15 because the width increase changes the ratio.
185/= width, 60/= aspect ratio, and 15/= rim size. excuse the spelling.

205/70 will be soo huge both width wise and heighth , theyd be very baloony looking and feeling you will lose alot of cornering stats. it would become unsafe and imo look like crap i'd say a 195/60 would be the best without going overboard. maybe even 205/60 or 195/70 but those still scare me.

IE 185 - 60 - 15
or
###, ##, ##
First three numbers indicate tire width, in millimeters, ie 185.
Second two numbers indicate sidewall height, which is measured in an aspect ratio, or percentage of the width. IE, 60% of 185.
The last number is the radius of the wheel it is supposed to be mounted on, ie 15 inches.
