Default echo engine performance, life?

I know we got an echo forum on here, but it was looking a little lonely, I was just wondering if anyone knew about the echo engine, since its in the xB I was curious how this little thing performs, and how solid of an engine it is

pretty much how long have they/ should they last?

its alright i guess, it lacks horsepower, i mean 78 hp or whatever to the wheels is nothing but lame.... i kinda grew on it though, but my little echo engine has intake. headers, perrin crank pulley, exhaust, and little things like that, and that made a great difference... ill post pix later of my 0-60 times, but with only dc exhaust, and aem intake, i got to 60 in 13. suttin seconds... that sucks.... but yesterday i timed again, and got 9.76.. which is alot better compared to the first time.... dunno though, supercharge that sucker and itll perform,

moved...

the motor has 108hp at the crank..
so about 90-92 at the wheel.
its a sturdy dependable motor.

thats cool, I know its more or less a hamster wheel under the hood, wich is fine with me. My girlfriends father was just putting ideas in my head saying his two cents about how it seems like too small of an engine for the car, eventhough the xB is really only about 300lbs heavier than an echo.

it is heavier, but its geared differently.
they geared it more for spirited city driving.

How long a car lasts depends on how well you take care of it, and how you drive it.

I'm sure a bad driver that doesn't maintain his car could blow up the strongest engine.

Just keep it serviced and drive it how it was meant to be drivin (ie. no towing or racing) and it should last you 100's of thousands of miles.

this engine has shown to roll over the 200K mark when it was in echo's. But the person that drives an echo generally wouldnt do as many mods as Scion owners and im assuming drive relaxed and take care of them. If your really curious go to the dealer and ask a mechanic if theyve seen an echo with over 200K miles, or what the most miles theyve seen on one.

A guy traded a Tercel(same engine) in here about 3 months ago with 406,000 miles. Not to shabby!

I have the same concern about engine life as well. If you own a box, from time to time, you have no choice but to rev high to keep up with traffic and stay out of trouble. ...and the sound it makes when revving almost feels like I'm doggin it out

Unless it was swapped the Tercel doesn't have the 1NZ, every tercel I've ever seen came with an "E" series motor stock.
