I am driving a toyota vios. i am from singapore. it has a 1nz-fe engine..i suppose its about the same as yours..

i have enlarged my throttle body as shown on the left side

but after fixing the idling rpm is very high .. about 2.7 to 2.8k rpm

i heard, can the idle rpm can be adjusted using the computer connected to the ECU..does anyone knows anything about it?? because the idle rpm is just too high!

yes you can adjust the idling with a few methods:

1. Method One - Install an ECU piggyback system.
Thought the price tag for this upgrade is rather high, but
not only do you gain extra horsepower and torque, but you
can also ask the mechanic who is adjusting your A/F ratio
and adjustments to set the idling lower. (Recommended:
Power Camcon or DASTEK Unichip)

2. Method Two: Install a SAFC
It is almost the same as an ECU piggyback, only thing is
that SAFC can only adjust your A/F ratio. The price tag
is lower but the HP and torque gain is also lower.

3. Check It Out
The throttle body itself could be damaged or perhaps mis-alligned. Have it
checked out at your mechanic.

Toyota Service Centres in Malaysia do have such computers which can adjust the idling of the car and also able to diagnose your car to see if there are any problems, i am not very sure if this machine exists in Singapore.

p.s: I also drive a Vios and am from Malaysia. If you have the cash, go for either the Power Camcon VVTI-Controller, check in the forums here as there is a thread about it too. Trust me, you blow some cash for it but it is worth every penny!

when i see the throttle, the butterfly, the coin looking like gold color copper piece.. seems to have a little smaller than the throttle by a tiny bit..

it can be purchased in Singapore and in Malaysia. i think if you were to purchase it, it should fit your xB jz nice... as the engine used in both cars are the same. it would extremly cheap for you too, as the exchange rate is in your favour!


well then, i think u should get it checked. it is possible that "coin" has been tilted too much, allowing too much air into the engine while the foot is off the accelerater.

Wow... All the way from Singapore...I from there too, but currently in Houston. Sorry, got off topic here... Didn't get your answer from the toyota or IST forum in Sing? Yea, purchase and get it done in Malaysia. way cheaper. Frds gets some of their stuff done there too. I only go there for the food..hehe. Oh, hows the power after enlarging your throttle body?

You dont need piggynacks or AFC II's bro, just adjust it through your throttle cable...you might have loosened it too much when you put on the new throttle body.

no the butterfly is too small as noted, unmetered air is going around it, its not something your going to fix with the throttle cable, you may be able to adjust the TPS manually...really you have gotten yourself in a bad place.

One thing you could do also is have the throttle plate custom machined to match the bore diameter, that would probably help, but still the TPS will have to be adjusted I believe as its probably out now, simple process could be done with manual and digital volt meter.

one very important question.. how do i adjust the TPS??

there will be a voltage it should show when its open, and when its closed, you need to turn it until its set based on a multimeter on one of the leads of the sensor, again its much easier if you have the manual to know both the voltages, and the procedures. If you look up TPS adjustment on the net you will get the general idea and can apply that if you can get the correct voltage for our cars.

normally those throttle body that you guys bored bigger outside , the center coin like piece is normally tightly closed or slightly having a very very thin opening at the end??

or maybe i need to fabricate another coin like thingy that is just nice

oh..i did not buy it online..i bought a second hand throttle body and went to do the job of making it bigger

i dont think it is currently sold online... you need to go to the shop itsel to purchase it. i can elp u find out the price tag here in Malaysia.

yeah thats why I said you need to have the "coin" thing as you call it custom machined to match the bore diameter of the throttle body, any machine shop could do that in 10 minutes. It should be a tight seal or your getting unmetered air into the motor it hasn't compensated for,.

You could make quite a bit of money exporting those to the US. . . if you have free time, you should consider it.
