Exhaust help!
Income tax time is drawing close and ive decided on a set of 18in axis spiders and an exhaust. I know alot of people want someone quiet on the highway and at idle and not too loud. I would like to know what to get if it want a loud, kinda poppy, gnarly, but deep badass sounding exhaust, not worried about performance gains as there are really none to be had besides going inside . anyway, i drove an srt4 and i love how unperdicatable it sounds, how it pops and snaps off throttle, any suggestions? thanks in advance

The popping sound is because the exhast tubing is too big. My exhast piping is 2.5 inches wide and it alwayz makes the poping when I shift and when i get off the gas. It's pretty cool. As for sound, it's all about preference on a muffler. Ive got the magnaflow one and it gives a nice low sound but once your up in the rpm's , it gets pretty loud. Just go to your local muffler shop and ask them how much it would be to make a cat-back exhast system. I got mine for less than 300 bucks (i forgot the actual price). Then you can say "yeah I got a custom exhast system!."

2.0 or 2.25 is the corrects sizing for the 1.5 i am running 2.0 with 2.0 inch cherrybomb glasspack used as a resonator and then 2.0 piping back to my universal racing medallion type muffler. with 2.5 inlet and 3.5 outlet with removable silencer. i know a few peeps so ended up costing me 120 including glasspack , piping , labor , and the muffler.

Does the silencer really work?
I'm also considering a custom setup... Gabe(stylis) might make me one...

yeah a silencer will really subtle things up. i normally drive without the silencer and with headers and intake and me drivin like a crackhead i can be honest pretty loud, still probably ca legal . but with the silencer in it is nicely subdued , and still pretty nice sounding , my setup has a kinda loud and damn deep/"mean" sound to it. everywhere i go people first say it's too loud(with the silencer out) but as soon as we start cruisin and they hear me comin up from behind or blowing by them the first words i hear em say is "oh man that sounds soo good" or "man that sounds awesomeZ" or " wow that thing sounds soo mean" lol all of which just makes me smile and say that's why i got custom , well that and the fact that if done right can be very very cheap. i kinda got the hookup but still my exhaust cost me around 120 for everything here is my list / price breakdown
1. resonator , 22.00 got from kragen
2. universal style muffler i liked 45.00 I sell them for 65 40-45 is my price . yes folks this is from e-bay.
3. 10 foot stick of 2.0 inch aluminized piping , 10.75 . I got this from a local muffler supply shop.
4. labor at my old place of employment (midas and yes this is a hook up price but still) 38 bucks
so yeah cost me about 116 total . if anyone were to go to a shop with a glass pack , and a universal muffler in tow shouldnt have to pay the shop more than 80 bucks to weld u up a custom cat-back. if you buy a universal muffler from a shop expect to pay approx 80+ , and they probably sell cherrybombs/ or worse regular resonators anywhere from say 15.95 up to 39.99 . I'm NOT saying don't buy stuff from shops but I AM saying that you can get it done right if ya know how to do it. thanx guys. oh and never ever EVER get an arospeed muffler. crappiests muffler i've ever seen on any car ever lol.
oh and on the sound issue I think I'm gonna try n make some sound clips cuz this is a very common question i get from folks.

Ok, this isn';t funny anymore, some mod keeps deleting my posts right after I make them.
Here's some info I posted on another thread.
Tanabe Hypermedallion axleback.
A bit pricey, but it is definitely quieter than the Magnaflow set-up I have now. I'm not knocking my current set-up, but when I had the Tanabe on my xB, I heard the air being sucked by the short ram over the exhaust at 75-80 mph on the freeway.
Any round canister will be louder than an oval. Why? Because there is less dampening inside the muffler.
If you go with a custom axleback, try and get 2.25 inch piping, and see how much more it'll be to get the piping from the resonator back changed over to 2.25 inch piping also.
