Default Fujita SRI issues. . .

I just installed my Fujita SRI intake for the xB yesterday. There are 2 things issues I have right now and want to find out if anyone else had them.

1. The MAF sensor connector rubbs against the battery. Anyone else have this problem. For now I have just moved the battery an inch over. All the pictures I have seen of the Fujita intake don't give a good view, so I thought I would ask.

2. This might be related to the first issue. When the car is cold and I am sitting at a stop light, I get a rattle/vibration noise. I have a feeling the SRI might not be mounted correctly but not even a blind one monkey with no arms could have installed this thing.

Any comments or ideas? I'll be bringing my car into one of my bays later this afternoon I just thought I'd get some knowledge/experience from others.

The xB is the wife's, so I don't have it here to look at. I installed the Fujita SRI on her car back in December. I did take a quick glance at the picture Fujita has on their site though.

The only thing I could think of is that you didn't get the intake pushed in tight enough to the throttle body. There should be enough play in the mounting bracket to get it a little closer. The only reason I say that is that I didn't have any issues with the wife's install.

What year xB do you have? Have you replaced the stock battery?

it's a '05 and I still have the OEM Battery inside. The mechanic I was working with moved the intake piping into the hose at the throttle body as much as possible. He had also mentioned that the bracket that goes onto the vibramount isn't letting him move it any further into the throttle body also.

Approximately how much space would you say was between the MAF sensor and the battery? For me it was rubbing against the battery.

Thanks.

I'll take a look at the wife's car tonight and get back to you. The wife's xB is an '05 with the stock battery as well.

Mine does not hit i have around .5 to .75 iches of clearance.

My only problem is that the wire for the MAF sencer just barley make it to the clip.

I had to modify the intake a little but I got it to work. I ended up grinding down the metal that attaches to the vibramount. The mechanic I work with noticed that it was making a small dent in the battery. . . given enough time I would have had a leaky battery on my hands. I pretty much reinstalled it. The MAF has about a 1/4" of clearance from the battery which is good for me.

Now the only thing that worries me is the filter itself. There is only about a 1/4" of clearance from the bottom of the headlight to the top of the filter. Oh well it works. Why is it that everytime I get a new part for my car I have to do "a little something" to it to make it fit. . .just my luck. Thanks for the help though.

I checked the intake on my wife's car last night and there is only about 1/8"-1/4" clearance between the plug to the MAF and the battery. Super tight, but it hasn't been an issue for us.

I know you have it fixed now, but I bet with a little effort you could have gotten it with a little finesse. The usual stuff like loosening all of the bolts, holding the intake in place and then retightening the bolts.

Oh well, as long as you have clearance and are happy with it.

You are correct I could probably have finessed it a little more, but we were so busy at the shop yesterday I almost didn't finish before we closed. That and I got stiches in my right hand, goes from the joint where the thumb connects to the palm and goes toward the wrist for about an 1 1/2". So my movement was severly cut down. Luckly one of the mechanics I work with helped me out for the few minutes he had. . .ha ha ha
Thanks for the info though, that is why I like this forum. I get the info/help I need.
