Gas Light......
#2
Farthest I've pushed was 60 miles since the light came on. I went to the gas station and put in 11.7 gallons. I believe that the gas tank capicity is 11.8 gallons? So my advice is dont go pushig your luck once its been 50 miles since you see that light.

The US is stubborn and doesnt want to convert to the much more logical metric system. The only other countries that dont use it are other advanced ( ) countries like Liberia and Myanmar.
There are ~3.7815126 liters to a US gallon, hence 11.9 gallons = 45.0 liters.

Gas tank holds 11.9 gallons.
When the LOW FUEL light comes on, you have 2.5 gallons in "reserve" until e-m-p-t-y.
As soon as the LOW FUEL light comes on, I reset the "A trip" odo to zero so I have a starting point to figure from. Since I know my 5-speed 05 box averages at least 30mpg, I can figure up to 75 miles before I run out (YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY : ) However, just to be safe--sudden gridlock, bumper-to-bumper, accident tie-up, whatever--I never let more than 60-65 miles go by before I stop to fill up.
Anyway, if you know what mileage your box is getting at the time, you can base your miles-to-BINGO on having 2-1/2 gallons to play with. Happy?

Wow this is pretty cool info. Makes me feel MUCH better about getting to the low area. My light never went on cause I thought when the light went on you have like 5 miles hehe. So I always make sure I fill up when getting low.

Yup, the light isn't exact, and isn't identical car to car. It should come on with 2 USABLE gallons left in the tank, but may be slightly over or under that.
I figure on two gallons being left and base my miles to bingo on my worst case mileage. (I tend to play it safe, and prefer knowing I will not run out of fuel before getting to a station.
YMMV...

Right - that's why it's usually stated as "usable" fuel remaining. If one lives with hills (my driveway climbs about 150 feet), the fuel suddenly deciding to all go to one end or the other of the tank can cause problems when there is very little left.
Even just accelerating, turning, or braking can cause the fuel light to flick on and off as the gas slops around.
(Not only can it be bad on your pride and your car's engine to run out of gas, the fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, and if it's not immersed, it can be damaged.)

well...lol...i can tell you that on more than one occasion I have pushed it just a little to far...and I had exactly 443 miles on a tank both times...(well, within .8 miles of each other)...and the first time it was due to my own stupidity and being in a hurry to get to class...the second time was because I was in the middle of BFE and I couldn't find a gas station that was open...both times I was on the phone with my buddy Dave who in turn made the trip out with 5 gallons of gas...lol.
SO...to make this easy for those trying to figure it out...if you are getting about 37 - 38 mpg on avg., which i do, then you can go about 443 miles before you are bone dry...
and don't expect to drain many more miles out of it once it starts to sputter...when it starts to die, the party is over...you might be able to take it out of gear and idle a bit and maybe get 1/2 to 3/4 mile out of it if you are lucky....I made it far enough to drift down an off ramp and get off of the interstate and out of traffic...and that was it.
