i was gettin ready to install a ground kit in particular the DIY yourself one found here https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...r=asc&&start=0 i was wondering if it could in anyway void the warranty.

 

Nothing "voids" your warranty...

If you have a problem and the dealer determines it was caused by a non-OEM part, then the repairs for that problem will not be covered under warranty.

Your warranty does not "void."

 

ok thats understandable. but can a ground kit exact to that one cause other problems, cause oem parts to fail

 

No way to say for sure. I suppose if installed incorrectly somehow, it could cause electrical problems?

Nate, ive had mine on for a few months and have had no problems. Like Ack said if you install the ground kit and you mess somthing up while doing it or it was the cause of a problem later, than they could void the warranty. If you have issues, makes sure they show you how it caused the problem, get it in writting, and make sure they can prove it in a court of law. I've heard Deland Toyota is pretty good, so hopefully they wouldnt try to pull one over your head and lie just to get you to pay for an actual warranty issue. But you never know, just do it and if your worried about the warranty that much then dont do it or be very very careful so you are pretty much sure you didnt mess somthing up.(Dont let shade tree mechanic do it, LoL)

 

ohh its somethin simple i can do its just my dads been wonderin what effects it can have on the engine if its installed and ive been tryin to educate him on it but he doesnt quite grasp the concept

 

thing is, if you havfe any engine management problems or any electrical problems at all, most dealers are going to say it might have been caused by your silly wires and say the problem can't be covered by warranty. Then you have to prove in court that toyota doesn't know cars as well as you. So, these wires won't do anything bad as long as you follow instructions, but IF you have problems with anything at all and have to go to the dealer take them off. The dealers aren't there to help you out, they're there to make money.

 

I have my grounding kit for two years now.
If the Scion was grounded better, I would not have one.
Need it for my Ice.

ive had no problems with mines. i bought my xa in 03, had it on since, and nothing. just gotta put it in right.

 

If your worried about the dealers trying to give you the turd story...just take them off before you take the car over to the dealer...it only takes a minute to do.
I have the ground wires myself, and have never had a problem from them...Never noticed any benefits either, but no problems. Now, if I turboed or SC'ed- then I might be able to notice a difference with or without.
In the meantime, I get all happy when I open my hood and see my useless blue wires everywhere.

 

don't worry Nate, you'll be fine. I've had mine for a while with no problems. hell I changed mine up 3 times already just making it better and looking good.

 

if you do have a problem they will tell you it will void your warrenty. as I had a problem with a sparkplug and they said that the ground wires caused it and it voided my warrenty and would not work on my car. and continued to say that they took pictures of the engine bay for future referance. of course the dealership doesnt know what they are talking about though so dont expect them to help at all. they said I had a miss fire in cylinder 1 where the wire was connected. yet the problem was on the other end of the block. so your best bet it to remove them first.

No prob here, and I used that DIY of the ground kit to make mine on the tC. Quite fun to do to. Also very happy to see wires going from one side to another . Still no rpoblems here, and its gonna be like 4 months since I did them. Hope that helps.

 

a properly installed ground kit is like teh easiest and safest mod you can do to your engine. i suggest you buy the cheap $ 10.00 kits off ebay cause its pre-made and cut to size and its about the same cost for no headache. just make sure you dont connect the positive with the negative (which if you do Do that then you deserve it) you should be fine. had mine for like 8 months now runs great , really smoothes out the idle espeically if you have Torque master spark plugs
