Default Header = More Power ???

Anyone who has installed a header on your xB.

What Brand did you buy?
Did it fit well?
Where did you buy it?
How much did it cost?
Could you feel a power increase?

Thanks!

DC Sports & Strup are what I see most often.

I am going to go with Strup when I get mine next year at some point

And yes it will add power, if you do some searches you can see a stock header next to a aftermarket one...its a big difference.

if you have custom intake + exhaust...then the only piece of the puzzle thats still stock is the header, solve that piece and at least youve opened up the whole way through..not just the front and back (unless im wrong in my newb understanding)

I got a DC ceramic header.Yes you can feel the difference, especially at cruising speed on the freeway ( 3k to 4k rpms)

Fit was perfect, no problems installing.

Got it from a distributor friend.

Cost under $200, promised I wouldn't tell exactly.

I just did an install yesterday on my xB. I went with an OBX header (basically a Megan rip-off) and it fit perfectly. I would recommend purchasing a new lower flange gasket before doing the install (as most headers only come w/ the block gasket) Just so you don't have to worry about using the old one (Possible leaks). Anyway I paid $125.00 shipped and installation was a breeze (about 2.5 hours) and YES you can feel the difference! It’s definitely my favorite mod so far! (I only have 500 miles on the car).

Btw: I’m also running an AEM CAI and a TRD axle back exhaust; all of them work well together!

I have a cheapy ebay header. It does the job but the quality . You will have a header but i wouldnt recommend this one because i dont think its going to last too long, but it will do the job for the time being. And yes the header along with an axle back and a CAI you will feel like a 10 HP and 10 TQ gain (roughly estimated), its not much but you will feel the difference considering our cars are so light. The header fit perfectly and installed it at a toyota dealership through a friend of mine which does ALL of my installs. If your only going to put on a header i can bet you $100 that you wont feel a power increase unless you installe the axle back/cat back and an inatke doesnt necesarily have to be a CAI but you have to get that monster engine breathing right.

I thought that they did not make a 4-2-1 setup for the XB because there wasnt enough room to work with...If that has changed where can I find one?

I picked up a Megan header. BIG difference in flow. I already had a Strup exhaust and it opened it up even more. The upper RPM's is where you'll see the difference. If your cruising at 3k and punch it... you'll feel the difference. Best mod by far on my box.

There is plenty of room in the xB for a header (not much bigger than the stock manifold). There are quite a few to choose from (Megan, DC, OBX, etc.) These headers will fit any xA or xB as they both have the same engine.

Just don't buy one of those eBay $35.00 headers, that's where you might run into some problems w/ compatibility or throwing a CEL after install, etc...

I thought I read something long time ago that the reason companies did not go the 4-2-1 route was because it did not yield enough of a power gain when compared to the 4-1. That's why DC (or Megan OEM I think) only came out with a 4-1 instead. I haven't been keeping up with developments lately so I could be gravely mistaken.

We got more hp than the 4-1 set-ups.
We dyno'ed our header against stock and then the strup header.

Made alot more torque and Hp.

Good to know, thanks for learning me on what's going on nowadays. "Anyone wanna buy my DC header now, so I can get me one of these 4-2-1's?"
