Default Headers?

I posted this queston over in Scion evolution and have not gotten a reply so I thought I'd try over here.......

wanted to hear from a few peeps about headers, I have the TRD sport exhaust..and thought headers might be the next performance addition

what are the noticable differences?

how much work/time is involved to install them?

pitfalls to avoid?

4-2? 4-1? etc etc

recomendations? Brand? why?

THANKS!!!!

You may get a million and one answers to your question...personally i have the DC Sports header..it was the last of the I/H/E parts that i put on and i really didnt notice much of a difference on the the butt dyno.. It made my exhaust sound a little better... in the long run I think it is worth it.. As for the 4 to 1 or the 4 to 2 to 1 designs..in theory the 4 to 1 is supposed to help with high end RPMs... the 4 to 2 to 1 is supposed to help with the low band RPM's .. The install of the header is not difficult..the first time it is a royal pain.. but i can now get mine off in about 10 mins. I dont really think there are any downfalls to them, other than you will wonder if it was worth the money you spent on it, because it is not a real big hp/tq gainer in the long run.. It is a good install thou with intake, exhaust and a light weight pulley...

i took my header to my local tuner shop to get installed along with my lightened pulley. it took them about 3 hours labor to do both parts.

definitely a throatier sound from the exhaust. i have the AEM CAI, Strup Header, and TRD exhaust for my I/H/E setup, and it's definitely a throaty rumble, though nothing crazy. there is a slightly better response, but i think it's due to the lightened pulley as well.

i suggest for the NA route, do the I/H/E with lightened crank pulley. that's what i have. it makes a big difference in everyday performance.

what did it cost you for the install? I was just taking a peak at the exhaust manifold and it does not look like a fun install

it really depends on your shop's rates. my shop charged 3.5 hours of labor, which ended up being 290 bucks for the install. some may say that's crazy, but hey, it's alright for me cuz i dont have the tools or skill to perform the install. also, my shop is very reputable in the work they do, so i have peace of mind knowing the install is good.

hey billy would runnin the mmw 4-2-1 headers be possible with zpi's setup?? sorry to steal the thread but, here is some info, proshop had a custom 2.25"(is that right billy?) headerback exhuast put on his box BEFORE he put on his headers, that being said most people just go axel back and have found headers very effective. In billy's case, the added headers probably didnt give as much of a kick as his exhaust did. So it depends on your future or current mods what you will feel and where you will feel it.

Yeah you can run any header you want with the ZPI turbo...

Now before I had the 2.25" header back exhaust put on...I had the DC Sports header and DC Sports Axle back.. The header back did help alot with the high end power..but took away some of the low end TQ... But was well worth it for me in the long run.. Now im running 2.5" ZPI turbo back exhaust...

I have the strup header. The installation was easy and quick. The performance gains, I can't really say, because at the same time I also installed the axle back and intake. But you notice the difference. I am really pleased with it.

I just installed a TSUDO axle-back exhaust on my '06 XB. It sounds and feels great! Not raspy or annoying. Nice deep rumble at idle and lean throaty when gased. My question is this: I've had people recommend DC Headers but I don't know if the sound of my exhaust would be compromised? DC's sound great and they're CARB Exempt! Second question:
Does anyone know someone that is selling their DC Headers that are made for a '06 Scion XB?
if so, PM me with that info please. Thanks in advance. Peace

also....zpi's headers are sitting in the middle of the ocean somewhere (being shipped as i type) so i think zpi header + zpi turbo should be a good combo...but thats just my .02 cents...

^directed at the guy who asked about zpi turbo/header combo^
