Thats great! Like I said...on a TURBO, it is perfect because it would allow you to launch when you are producing good boost....I'm not knocking you, your car or your initiative to do this.
As far as my experience with stalls, All of the above. I installed them, raced them, and drove them on the street. I used to bracket race a few cars and a stall was neccesary for the cams I was running. Actually, I thought it was cool having one, but also it was needed as I was running high lift cams at the time. Most people don't need them for everyday driving, thats all.
As far as my experience on streetability...I would step on the gas and my car wouldn't hardly move till it hit 2800 RPM and not put full power to the wheels till 4200 RPM. I was driving a '66 ford f-100 with a 428 SCJ at the time, with 4.86 gears. VERY VERY unstreetable but my mustang was down at the time.
Maybe a very low stall speed would be good for the tC, like 1800-2400 RPM.

Like I asked earlier...you are using your eclipse as an example (which is most likely a race car) but what are you trying to acheive with the scions?

FYI, the car noted above did a best of 12.85 in the 1/4 before the install.

Yeah, That all sounds great, but do you guys know what a stall does? It SLIPS until the "designated" RPM is acheived. In other words, you are giving it a ton of gas and it does not put full power to the ground. they do work good for drag applications....but it will get old on the street.

look man. just please ignore this thread until the results are in with a working product. obviously you think this isn't going to be streetable. i've worked with this company before and still do. they make converters that are VERY streetable. there is no rolling backwards and jerking around from the converter like you get with certain brands.

i understand you're looking out for the forum members but i am trying to provide something to the forum too. aftermarket parts.

i will gladly show everyone in florida that wants to come watch me race just how fast and streetable this will make my car. if they like the results, they may buy it, they may not. i am making NO MONEY from this. therefore, my only motivation could be good for the community. if the part sucks, i'll take it off my car, recommend against it, and throw it in the trash. it does me no good to look like a liar and someone who is out to spread bad parts into this community.

if you have any more complains, please just send me a pm.

slipknot490, if you want to talk about the benefits/unneccesary part of high stall converter, than PM him! this is for people donating parts or interest in buying them. this has nothing to do with the actual need of them. PM him if you want to talk. anymore off topic comments will be deleted and members warned. keep the threads on topic here please!

I am not bashing you Matty or what you are trying to do here. I am just letting you know my experiences with stall converters.
Thats great that you have the initiative to do this as I have not seen or read about anyone else doing this. Good luck with it and I hope the company can get it to do what you need it to. Like I said, good luck with it. Just remember...the xB is an economy car....LOL. Anyway, have fun.

Off topic here, but I think the tC has serious potential as far as power goes. I consider it economy as far as price but not economy when it comes to power and MPG.

here's where it stands:

Ok, for your car it isnt a problem so to speak, there are 11 variations of
your converter threw different model changes but there are 2 main
derivatives makeing it alot easier, so i have to have a picture of one of
your actual units to compare to my units I built to make sure they are the
same.

As far as the xA and xB they will actualy have to have a core sent to me and
do it on an exhange basis as they use an almost unique converter, but also a
picture could help me out there just to make sure, scrap yard time, or
somone that has blown or is building a motor could send me some nice close
up high res pics

Thx for the help

Ian

I need pictures of a tC's torque converter. high res, close up shots. Any help? I cannot find a tC's torque converter in salvage yards anywhere

The xA xB crowd may actually end up being a ship it, get it built up, have it shipped back kind of thing. Unless he gets a few in there and has core charges and such.
