hey folks, i was just wondering how my exhaust would sound if i took out the resonator, my current set up is the trd muffler with 2.25 piping from resonator back. i think i remember a few people doing this but i forgot. would it sound very raspy? please LMK.. thanks guys.

i dont think it would get raspy, it would just get louder without the resonator. But ive never heard that type of setup befeore.

 

it will be very loud at freeway speeds, the resinator is designed to keep things quiet at high RPMs and removing it would be bad. Its up to you though, I say, that you get a louder muffler if thats what you want.

 

I did a 2.25" catback system, with a Flowmaster knockoff muffler with mechanical baffles and no resonator. I drove the car for a week before I couldn't stand it anymore, and took it back to the muffler shop and had them install a 24" glasspack to replace the resonator. That made it much more tolerable, and gave it a really nice tone, not raspy or buzzy at all. The nice thing about this setup is all you see from the back is the 3.5" tip, not the "coffee can" muffler like a lot of the other rice burners have for an exhaust...
