im not sure that it is a valve, but whatever it is, it is still ticking after the first oil change. So I sould change my oil one more time. But do I need another oil Filter or just the one from the first oil change?

Yes change the filter. WOW I can't believe you had to ask that so many times. Remember the oil runs through the filter so there might be residue left there also. Good luck.

Don't be sorry you were asking a legitimate question. I'm just suprised you had to ask three times before anyone answered. I suppose everyone is trying to be so helpful that it was overlooked. Good luck again.

If it look like chocolate milk then you have water in the oil. You probably sucked water up into the engine in which case it is hydrolocked. There are different things that can happen that are considered hydrolocking and ben valves is one of them. The can still run if it's hydrolocked.

Even if you put it back to stock they're still not going to cover it because there is no way the sotck air box can suck water into the engine uless the car is totally submerged. If that happened you would have alot more to worry about that the engine.

If it's ticking then I'm betting on a bent valve or 2. That would cause ticking. I say leave the intake on the car and take it to the dealership. They're going to know it was on there anyway.

I do reallize that they are going to know about the intake, so I am going to keep it on. I have done everything that you guys have said, and the sound is still there. So I now know that it might be a valve. How much do you think that this is going to cost me? I hop its not to much :?

Ok I just took the box to the dealership. It is going the cost me $87 just for them to look at it. They then called me back and said that they would need to take out the engine, which would take 20 hours of labor which equals $1700. I will post what happens next.

yup, you getting played. They only need to remove the cylinder head to verify for bent valves. 2 to 3hrs of work. also, a quick compression test will tell you how good your engine is.

They did do a compression test, and the valves were all messed up. I am just hoping that it is covered.

My prayers are with you and your box, bud

I was thinking of going (longer) cold-air intake vs. (shorter) ram-air intake and your story is the worst case senario I had feared.

Gulf Coast = Hurricanes = Heavy Rain = Flooding streets..... and so on.

I think Ill stick to the short ram intakes... rather than the longer aem cold air style.

Again... good luck.

It doesn't take 20 hours to remove the engine. If it's just the valves then all they have to do is pull the head off. I would get another estimate on that. If they're not going to warranty it you're better off getting a used engine and swapping it out yourself.
