Default Interesting info I noticed in a Scion Catalog/Book....

I got this book from the NY auto show about the 3 Scion models. It lists specs, colors, options, accessories, among other things, etc...

Of the accessories, it shows the AEM CAI as an accessory, with a "*" next to it as a notation to small print below, which says:

"The AEM Cold Air Induction Systems are to be sold only as a dealer installed or over the counter option AFTER retail sale of the vehicle. The induction system may not be sold to the customer at the same time as the new vehicle and may not be financed together with the new vehicle."

I wonder why.....

No it can it depends if it's built with one or not , it's so the stealership can make buko bucks.

The cars aren't built with AEM intakes....they are dealer installed..

I bet it's so it's always an aftermarket accessory for failed smog reasons.

I suspect it is simply because the vehicles were not 'smog certified' by the manufacturer with the aftermarket CAI, and they don't want to be tied to having to make the vehicle meet smog requirements with it installed should it fail a test.

tomas that sounds good to me, if it came as a factory installed option they would be responsible for the smog regulation.
But you can get it financed in along with all the other otions you want, consult your local dealer

ok I didnt mean built I meant when a dealer builds their showcase car for the showroom floor , if they included the intake then it can and will be included within the price. that's what I meant.
