Default It's about Time some comes up with this Swap..

I just ordered a 4-AGE 20 Valve Engine for my xB. I know about the smog and all that but, I got my Bro to do the Swap for me at his Shop.

Anyways, I need to know what Swaps have been done on these and what parts would I need besides the JDM Engine and Trans.

1) Caps
2) Search, this has been discussed before. This swap probably won't happen.

It's probably the easiest xB swap to do. You'll need axle shafts, engine wiring harness, computer, motor mounts..etc.
Try and get a 6 speed with LSD from the overseas Corolla.

p.s. if you have to ask questions like this on a forum, your not ready for a motor swap.

1ZZ or 2ZZ are probably better. cause they can be legal very easily.

i didnt say better, i said easy.

and i kinda like the 4age it was the begining of 4 valves for toyota. It was a marvel when it came out. I had one in my mr2, nt a powerhouse but a neat motor. And very easy to put in an xb.

1zz -legal
4age-neat (and a 6speed lsd available)
3sgte-POWER!

I don't think anyone here has successfuly done a swap. Too many variables. Are you the one to prove us wrong?

Great motor, built many silvertops and blacktops, high comps, gze and old 3 ribs. 4ag's are my specialty. However what makes it illegal is you are dropping in an engine that is older than your vehicle. That is a high no no. Engine has to be the same age or newer than your vehicle. If you want to chance it, good luck, will be a fun toy On standalone you can make about 155whp n/a with minor mods. If it is a silvertop then about 135-140whp.

its a black top with 6 speed lsd. someones got to do it. cops wont pop the hood where i live and if they do theyre too retarded. to know what it is. only in ca would they confuse my stock exhaust with an illegal catback.

4ag cane in FWD, mid engine and RWD configs in auto, 5 speed and 6 speed trannies. Most versatile engine toyota made IMO

So what are you going to do for:

Motor Mounts?
Tranny?
Fuel?
Engine management?
Drive shafts?
Cooling?
Retaining P/S & AC?
How tall is the motor? Will it clear the hood?
Exhaust?

Maybe it's all easy. As easy as dropping a VR6 or a 20VT into ANY VW... probably not. Would it be worthwhile? 20v ITB bangin' off the limiter... yea I could dig it... if it was a clean swap and not some utter hack job.

there's a 6 speed for the 1zz it is on a 2zz but they work with 1zz as well , and the 4age isn't gonna be too much easier to do at all. if anything a lot harder putting obd1 stuff into an obd2 car.

i'm knocking the 4ag at all.

I dunno i'd argue 3sgte. or 22r/20r

3sge/gte was used in fwd celica's , awd celica's , mid engine rwd mr2's , rwd altezza's , and I believe they came in auto 5spd and 6spd as well
