Default K&N Typhoon CAI for xA - WOW!

I just got my 06 xA in October. Its great but I have noticed it needs a little more power... especially since ive been used to the power of my previous car, 1992 bmw 325is (modded @ 212HP) R.I.P . Anyways, I looked around at CAI options for the 06 and I found that the K&N looked like the best. The install was not the easiest CAI install by any means, trust me. It takes a good couple hours if this is the first time. But after I got the damn thing in... my xA pulled much better and it sounds mean!! The sound of the engine when around 3k rpm is pretty much worth it alone, lol. I thought id share this with the xA crowd cuz its hard to find a nice intake for us! (the injen one the is next the the engine is a joke!). Heres a summary:

Throttle response --> still isnt where I want it, but it is improved.
Acceleration --> Surely improved, i think youll be hard pressed to find better for xA
Sound --> Unbeatable... honestly, I might not get an exhaust cuz it sounds so good.. and ive been set on getting it.
Fuel Economy --> not sure yet cuz ive been pushing my xA pretty hard to test out acceleration.
Installation --> decent directions, but its not quick, 45min job at all.

Hope this helps!

PS. some sites sell this under 03-05 or whatever, it fits 06.

i found the same things when installing mine earlier this past summer. the k&n typhoon has incredible sound, and a noticeable difference in acceleration. glad to see another happy customer like me!

one thing though, why is this thread in the forced induction forum?

yeah, it really does. WOT above 3,000rpm and you should turn some heads. sounds great on the highway too... not too loud, but plenty of presence!

Hey designed24, if you purchased your intake from autoanything.com they do price matching. If you find a cheaper price within one year (yes.. one year) they will match the price and go one dollar cheaper. I ordered my K&N cold air a couple weeks ago and mentioned to them that cardomain.com sells the intake for $179.95, so I got my intake for 178.95. Just go to their website and click on their "We guarantee the lowest price for 1 year link" for info on how to get refunded.
