Default Maybe a stupid question

I searched around a lil bit, but couldnt find any info. I was told that it MIGHT void my warranty if I install CAI or an exhaust system. Is this true?? Also, i am thinking of baggin the box, im sure that will void the warranty on the suspension, but will dealerships still honor the warranty on other parts of the car??

it will only void warranty if the part you put on, such as the CAI, causes a problem to the car/motor.. if the mod is whats causing problems.. its been repeated all over this site.

A full warranty isn't voided.

If you install a CAI, and you hit a puddle and hydrolock the engine, the dealer will not cover it. If you bag it, and something goes wrong with the suspension, the dealer will not cover it.

However, if you install a CAI and the axles break, the CAI had nothing to do with the failure of the axles, so they will need to cover it under warranty.

The dealer needs to prove that said piece was directly responsible for whatever failure.

That's where a Subie is nice. You can do whatever you want and not void the warranty. A long as it's in reason. If you do a turboupgrade by a reputable company and the engine blows, it'll be cover. Put your own on and overboost it, then probably not.

It's also a good idea to keep your stock parts around in case you need to put them back for these reasons...
