Default megan headers leakage

so i just got done installing the megan headers to my xb, took it for a test drive and it sounded like a lawnmower. looked up some recent topics on it and everyone said to tighten up all the bolts really tight.. i did that and it still sounds like it, my friend told me to just buy a new donut gasket and that should solve the problem.. any one had this problem?

Yea, there's probably a leak between the collector and the down pipe. A new donut should take care of it.

we went to his house and installed it, problem solved

i just installed a dme header two days ago and have the exact same problem. i know my issue is the doughnut gasket between the header and cat, because when I went to take the doughnut gasket off the stock manifold i couldn't get it off without damaging it pretty badly. it didnt even look like a gasket anymore. It was just like a big crumbly rusty mass that was stuck to the pipe and I could only pry off the outer part of the gasket ...I tried using it anyway and it is definitely leaking there now ( i can feel the exhaust coming out of that joint). now my car sounds like a lawnmower and my acceleration is crappy....im picking up another gasket from the dealership tomorrow. if you have a new gasket and you got it on the header correctly, then maybe its just not seated right to the cat pipe. when you tighten down the two spring loaded bolts from the header to the cat, don't tighten one down fully before you go to the other. instead, tighten one side a few rotations, then do the other one a few, then just keep alternating like that until they are both tight.

At least with the weapon-r mmw header, they included a new dognut gasket. No leaks. However the first header I got had some that I detected during a comprehensive inspection. They sent me a new one, problem sloved.
