I can offer my experances on a K&N Typhoon on an xA. It is so simple to install, you would just be throwing $$ away to let the dealer install. It is NOT too loud... I can say this because the wife says it is almost plesant sounding... It is louder, but it sounds mellow.
My mileage has gone up, both hiway and city driving is up about 2mpg. When I get on the interstate I try to run around 80, which was killing me mileage wise before.. now, it is a solid 30 MPG... this is from a recent 800 mile trip. Power from the CAI seems to be better at low end, I have no proof of this, but it feels like it has more grunt.Top end is about the same.

MY daughter wants to get a short ram for her tC, but to be honest, that looks pretty complicated to remove the stock unit...
I believe that the only warranty it will void to install any intake is the airbox warranty... If you start having engine problems, just put your ond system back on and take it to the shop....

Just an update for anyone that cares....

After the long road trip, I have gassed it up and done the normal go to work routine.. I have over 180 miles on less than half a tank... that should work out to the neighborhood of 36 MPG. Before, I was averaging 30-32 MPG....It might just be lighter traffic, but I am completely happy with all the benefits of the CAI...
