Default Mysterious Borla exhaust noise....HELP

I had this problem with my Borla axle back getting crooked and off-center. So i safety wired it to keep it straight. That has worked great but after a while i started to notice a sqeaky noise when idle. So i went around and with gloves on touched the tip and it stopped. I let it go and it started again. I looked under and my guess was that the safety wire was rubbing the pipe and making it sqeak but i don't think that's it now. Could it be the rubber hangers? It's so annoying! Someone help please.

lube up the hangers and see what happens and repost...if your exhaust shimmys/moves/rocks or w/e the hell u wanna call it, the hangers is were the squeak would becoming from since its the only part that would cause a type of rubbing to squeak ...if its a viberation its something in the pipe/a bolt thats not tightened down

lube and repost! ;)

Well, i don't think it's the coupler joint because i tightened that down but i will try lubing the hangers and get back to ya. Now that i think about it when i touched the tip there was alot of movement or play in the whole thing, all the way to the front of the car. What else could be loose? Thanx.

I had this same problem with mine, it was the wire! I replaced it with plastic zip ties and it solved the problem.

Good luck.

not if you wrap the zip ties in something heat resistant....oh and um if your hangars are that "crappy" and they wiggle that much look into new hangars for it because they are probably eventaully going to break but i mean the car is probably less than 2 1/2 years old so that would confuse me but thats life right

lube and recheck everything you really have to get under the car to check it out i would say bring it to me but your way to far away lol

if you do it right the ties are on the hanger and the tow hook in the back, It doesn't get hot on those points, but make sure you use a heavy duty zip tie. No I don't have the Borla, I bought a knock off. I couldn't afford the other, but it looks and sounds great!

Ok, new problem. I THINK i solved the squeak by spraying the hangers with some silicone lube. So i think the safety wire is fine for now. I drove around my parking lot and didn't hear it but it usually doesn't star squeaking till it warms up. Anyway, when i went down the road, to my surprise i heard a "BEEP BEEP BEEP" and the little swerving car light came on. WTF???

That beeping is the traction light coming on, need to slow down in the turns, because your tires are losing traction. The beeping is a warning that your tires are braking traction when driving.

Ok so should the coupling joint be really tight and solid or should it have some play? The coupler itself is really tight but the joint has about two inches of play in it. It's almost as if the coupler is to big for the joint. I don't know........

should have a little bit of play in it but 2 inches sounds a bit to much you should warm it up and then let it cool for about an hour so you can get under it and check everything out .. everything will still be partially hot ... but you can then see what the exhaust doing during regular running

Ok so the joint between the axle back and the (midpipe?) SHOULD be a little loose? But not two inches and it shouldn't make noise when idling, right?

The axle back gasket is bad, there should be no play in the coupler to the mid pipe at all. There is your vibrating noise and your axle back misalignment problem.

I had that problem when I first installed my exhaust, I don't know if I didn't tighten it enough or it wasn't seated right, but the gasket burnt out and all that was left was the metal that was banding it together. I replaced the gasket and it has been fine ever since.

Oh sh!# there is NO gasket there!!! Come to think of it there hasn't been one since the first time i had it adjusted by the dealer. Not surprising since they seem to be incompitent about alot of things.
