Default Need some input on peoples who know superchargers

ok so i was reading on scionclub.com or something under the internals thread and some guy got custom rods and pistons to build up the bottom end for a turbo. I remember reading that anything over 6-7 PSI and you risk a high chance of bending rods and stuff. So my question is with custom rods and pistons could i run higher boost and hit maybe 160 whp and still keep reliability of my car, this guy spent 1200 or so on rods and pistons to do a future turbo setup. I know for sure now that i want to go F/I within the next 1 1/2-2 years so this would be the first step? any info advice help etc? im not looking to swap a 1zz either, i want to keep the stock 1.5

yes. building the engine = more boost capability. but less driveability OFF boost.. (lower compression pistons means your car is gonna be a dog without some boost)

The parts will be stronger, but are they going to be strong enough to over come the problem EL Prototypes talks about:

These engines have the crankshaft offset 12mm to the thrust side of the cylinder bore centerline. This reduces the side force generated at maximum compression, for reduced friction and improved fuel economy. Toyota calculates the offset crankshaft configuration reduces fuel consumption by between one and three percent. Unfortunately, this throws the angle of the rod way out on its upward travel causing the rod to just give up under boost and snap. If there is any detonation or pre-ignition this breakage will occur at an accelerated rate.
http://elprototypes.com/1nz%20turbo.htm

These engines were designed for economy over high-performance. IMO, if you're going to spend all that money to build up and then boost an engine, it should be one that is better suited for it. ELP's page does have this listed, but was last updated a few months ago...
