Default New to the Scion

Hi guys. I just recently acquired a dark red Scion XA. I love the car but I came from driving a modified Honda. And the XA(Stock) just doesn't have enough juice. Can anyone advise me as far as the best bang for your buck upgrades I could start with?

Let me get this statement out right at the start ... if you bought the xA for speed and power, sell it now.

Now, if you want to add some extra horses (not many) go with the proven efforts ... intake and exhaust. My preferences are Injen short ram, DC headers, 2.25” pipes, hi-flow cat, and a custom muffler system. It will give you a few extra MPG if you can keep your foot out of the throttle.

Like was said, if you're looking for speed and/or power, sell it.
If you're looking for just a little more go (and not too much) then the basic intake, header, and exhaust is all you need. Could do some suspension mods too. No actual power gained from suspension mods but some more stability and faster curves.
We are running a sale on the intake, header, and exhaust. As for the Injen intakes I would recommend the CAI (RD series) as opposed to the SR (IS series). For a few dollors more than the Injen SR for the xA, you can get the CAI. We do carry both though. Check it out, the link to our sale is in my signature.
Thanks.

I figured it wouldn't be able to be a speed machine with the current motor thats in my engine bay. But what sorts of swaps are out there? There has to be a toyota engine that will bolt on with little modification. Like I've seen alot of people say on this subject, "with the right amount of money anything is possible."

If you have the money, put an MR2 engine with s/c and nitros. Of course you will have problems keeping in the road without suspension changes. But heck, if you have that much money, why not go for it ...

Motor swaps, I've heard people talk of the 1zz, 2zz, 4efte, 3sgte, and the 4age. Haven't seen any completed swaps though. The Scions are fairly new and it does take some nice deep pockets but give it some time and the swaps will start to surface. I would think either the 1zz or the 2zz would be the way to go. And I'm sure someone will try the others or is trying. Do a search on here and you're bond to find a bunch of people talking about it.
