Just check the gap when you get the plugs.
It may not be necessary to gap them.
Mine was .032 out of the box.
That is what the Manufacturer recommends:

there's a small circular tool you can get at any auto store to check for the gap.
i just got me some NGK iridiums today too. 26 bucks for all four plugs at kragen auto parts
just like the original author of this thread said
immediate zip and smoother transitions.
i hope it ups the MPG too.

i was going to buy the NGK iridiums but went with a single tab plug. the car had NGK that were similar in it before. I warmed the car up after and it was running smoother. gonna put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in it next fill up and it should be smooth. the idle was rough...i guess i deserved it for not changing the plugs till 55k. two of them were pretty ugly

I'm also at around 30K and put in a set last week. I did notice a slightly smoother idle, but no extra zip. I'm taking it in for it's 30K service this week so that should help. I got them from seller nvthai on ebay for $25.70 shipped

jbrolowxb No. wires should be good with an inspection unless you can see a cut or other physical damage. Looked at the maintenance schedule for a 2006 and it goes to 120K/144 months without any mention of inspect or replace spark plug wires. Probably not a bad idea if you hit those upper mileage milestones.

I used the Denso Iridium "IR Power" plugs. They have a 0.4 mm center electrode- "the world's smallest" so I guess that's good. The NGK iridium say they have a 0.6 mm electrode. I don't know if it matters. Maybe the NGK will last longer. Denso also makes a 0.7 mm electrode "long life" iridium plug.

Denso @ .4mm = .0157, NGK @ .6 = .0236. Thats 16 and 24 thousandths of an inch respectively! Sharper the edge/point, better and easier the arc can form. I',m sure both will serve well as Denso (Toyota OEM) and NGK are both excellent choices.

I remember racing 2 stroke motocrossers and had a plug pull the threads out of the head. Granted, they run a lot hotter than a water cooled 4 cycle...

The wider gap is what helped increase the mpgs by about 2.
Glad you are liking them Robert. I knew you would.
